There are 14 Legendary Fish in Red Dead Redemption 2, out of which 3 are in New Austin, and you can only catch them after completing the complete main story. Once you have caught all Legendary Fish, the final one will only be unlocked then. The quest-giver will go with you himself for the final fish.
Before you start hunting these Legendary Fish, you will need to find a specific Stranger, Jeremy Gill, and start this side mission, ‘A Fisher of Fish,’ after interacting with him. He is found in a small fishing shack in Gill Landing. His location is marked below. Once you have started the mission, you will have the map, which shows the locations of all Legendary Fish in the game.
Another thing that you will need before hunting these Legendary Fish is a special type of lure. These lures can only be bought from a special shop located at the Lagras in Bayou. The exact location is marked on the map below. A Legendary Fish is found right next to this shop. At the shop, you can purchase any of the following three baits.
- Special Lake Lure – $20.00
- Special River Lure – $20.00
- Special Swamp Lure – $20.00
Once you have these three lures, you can begin your Legendary Fish hunt right next to this shop. It is worth mentioning here that these Legendary Fish are not attracted to bait or normal lures. You must have these special lures to catch the Legendary Fish
Legendary Longnose Gar
It can be found in Lagras, right next to the Bait Shop. Use a Special Swamp Lure to catch it.
Legendary Bullhead Catfish
Found in the Sisika Penitentiary. You can grab a canoe and get there. Do not leave the water, or you will be shot at. Stick to the edge of the Penitentiary. Use a Special River Lure to catch it.
Legendary Muskie
Muskie is found near the Lighthouse of Van Horn Trading Post. You can use Special River Lure to catch it.
Legendary Perch
The Legendary Perch is found in Elysian Pool. Use Special Lake Lure to catch it.
Legendary Steelhead Trout
The Legendary Steelhead Trout is located at the top of the map near the Legendary Bull Moose location. You can catch it with the Special River Lure.
Legendary Sockeye Salmon
The Legendary Sockeye Salmon is found in the frozen Lake Isabella. Most of the lake is frozen but there are some water areas as well where you will be able to catch her.
Legendary Smallmouth Bass
The Legendary Smallmouth Bass is found in the area near Strawberry in the Owanjila Water Reserve of the Owanjila Dam. Catch it with Special Lake Lure.
Legendary Large Sturgeon
The Legendary Large Sturgeon is found near a railroad bridge heading to Saint-Denis. The area is pretty murky, so you will need to use a Special River Lure to catch it.
Legendary Bluegill
Legendary Bluegill is found in the open waters on the left side of Rhodes. Use the Special Lake Lure to catch it.
Legendary Chain Pickerel
The Legendary Chain Pickerel is found in the Dakota River. You will need to use a Special River Lure to catch it.
Legendary Rock Bass
The Legendary Rock Bass is found in Aurora Basin at Tall Trees. You will need Special Lake Lure to capture it.
Legendary Largemouth Bass
You will find the Legendary Largemouth Bass in San Luis River in New Austin. You will need a Special River Lure to catch it.
Legendary Redfin Pickerel
You will find the Legendary Redfin Pickerel in Stillwater Creek near Thieves Landing. You will need Special Lake Lure to capture it.
Legendary Catfish
Unlocked after catching all the fish and sending them back to Jeremy via Post Office. Jeremy will invite you over to this hut where he will accompany you to capture the final Legendary fish in the game located in New Austin.
