There are 10 Rock Carving Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2 and they are a part of the Geology for Beginners Stranger Mission. To complete the game 100%, all of the rock carvings have to be located and collected, which will unlock the Collector’s Item trophy/achievement.
Red Dead Redemption 2: All Rock Carving Locations Guide
Below, you will find all 10 rock carving locations marked on the map for you to collect. The rock carvings are a part of the mission “Geology for Beginners”, which begins when you talk to Francis Sinclair on the porch of a hut in Strawberry. Francis will ask you to locate each rock carving and send him the coordinates of each location.
Franc Sinclair’s Hut
This is where you meet Franc Sinclair who sets up this collectible mission. Go to this location to meet him before you begin collecting the rock carvings.
Rock Carving # 1
The first rock carving can be found at Owanjila Lake, where it will be right next to the lake, hard to overlook.
Rock Carving # 2
The second carving can be found north of Strawberry and close to the giant skeleton marked on the map. Once you reach the mountain, walk to the very edge of it, where you will see a path leading down to where there will be a skeleton. Circle around where you will find the carving facing the valley below the mountain.
Rock Carving # 3
The third rock carving can be found northwest of Flatneck Station near the top of a mountain. The carving will be on a rock that will look like 2 stone walls above each other.
Rock Carving # 4
This rock carving can be found towards the east side of the Elysian Pool, where this large carving is hard to miss and is just by the road.
Rock Carving # 5
The next carving is at Roanoke where you can locate it by just standing on the road. As it will be facing the road.
Rock Carving # 6
The next carving can be found south of Moonstone Pond, where it will be on the plateau. You will find a small triangular rock mountain with a pyramid carving on it.
Rock Carving # 7
To get to this rock carving, you need to go to Bacchus Station and approach it from the southern side of the river. Head up top to the mountain, where you will find a passage leading down between the trees. You will spot the carving high up, facing the river.
Rock Carving # 8
This rock carving can be found west of Cumberland. Once at the mountain, walk to the edge of it and look for a small mountain pass that will be leading down. Find a way down where you can find the carving at the face of the small cliff.
Rock Carving # 9
For this Rock Carving, refer to the map and go towards the Whinyard Straight, where you will find the rock carving facing the river.
Rock Carving # 10
This is the last rock carving depending on our order of guide. Refer to the map and follow the road that leads to Mount Hagen, at the Grizzlies West region. You will find the carving on the mountainside, carved into the rock.
