Developer Hazelight is revealing new information about their upcoming co-op adventure game Split Fiction ahead of its release via a brand-new Story Trailer. The trailer was showcased during Sony’s State of Play, which highlighted additional story elements from the game. Apart from sharing the trailer, the developer has also revealed new information about Side Stories that will be featured inside the game. Hazelight is the developer behind It Takes Two, another co-op title that won The Game Awards Game of the Year award back in 2021.
Check out the new Story Trailer for Split Faction:
The new trailer shows the complex relationship between the two in-game characters, Mio and Zoe. At the beginning of the game, Mio and Zoe are not on the best terms, and each of them seems to be having some trouble adjusting to the other person. We see both of them bickering over different issues at the start of the trailer, and continuous fighting seems to be affecting the progress of the game.
With some story progression, both of them finally start to understand that to proceed and escape from the dual fictional worlds, they must trust each other and have each other’s backs. Only then do both of them stop fighting and instead start working together.
Another important element in Split Fiction will be Side Stories, which will be part of the game but not part of the main story. Split Fiction takes Side Stories to a whole new level as these will be completely optional but huge, massive worlds that you can explore by entering different portals throughout the story.
These Side Stories are a result of both Mio and Zoe being stuck in the same simulator. These portals are attempts by the simulation to steal their incomplete ideas for stories that our characters wrote when they were younger. These Side Stories bring their charm and chaos to the game and serve as a perfect escape from the main story when you need it.
Pre-orders for Split Fiction are now live across all platforms apart from PlayStation where you can add it to your wishlist instead. Split Fiction is slated for release on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA App along with consoles including PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Similar to It Takes Two, the game will feature a free friend pass which will allow you to invite another friend for free even if they do now own the game to play it alongside you.
