Gran Turismo 7 is set to receive one of its biggest updates yet later this year, with Polyphony Digital confirming that the free Spec IV update will be split into two parts launching in October and December 2026. The update will introduce two circuits, 12 new cars, new racing modes, and several features designed to expand the game’s overall experience.
The first part of the Spec IV update will arrive in October and add Sportsland SUGO to Gran Turismo 7. Located in Japan, the circuit is known for its flowing layout, elevation changes, and distinctive Dunlop bridge. The December update will then bring back Autumn Ring, a legacy circuit that first appeared in the original Gran Turismo.
A total of 12 new cars will be added across both updates, although Polyphony Digital has not yet revealed the complete lineup.
Spec IV will also introduce new ways to drive and compete. Online Drift Trials will allow players to test their drifting skills against others, while Shuffle Races will introduce randomized conditions to online competition, requiring drivers to adapt their strategies during races.
Other additions include new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, new progression elements, and a Concierge feature for purchasing cars. More details about these systems are expected in the coming weeks.
The December update will also introduce Family Mode, a new feature designed to make Gran Turismo 7 more accessible for players with different levels of driving experience. Polyphony Digital says the mode will allow families and friends to enjoy the game together while also offering something new for existing players.
The Spec IV update arrives as the Gran Turismo franchise approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027, with Polyphony Digital positioning the update as the beginning of those celebrations.
More information about the content arriving in both parts of Spec IV will be revealed during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3.
Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV will be available as a free update, with the first part launching in October 2026 and the second following in December 2026.
