The Destiny franchise had a rocky start and things looked better when The Taken King expansion was released. The same was the case with Destiny 2, the game made a comeback with the Forsaken expansion. Bungie and Activision have already had tension between them but now that both are splitting, Destiny 2 could be made even better.
Thank you Guardians. It’s been an honor and a privilege to help bring the world of Destiny to life for you. pic.twitter.com/EB1y19OTD8

Bungie told the employees in a team meeting and the announcement was taken as great news and an employee also mentioned that there were cheers and that they even popped open a bottle of champagne. This is exciting news. Bungie updated their blog and posted the following regarding the matter:
We have enjoyed a successful eight-year run and would like to thank Activision for their partnership on Destiny. Looking ahead, we’re excited to announce plans for Activision to transfer publishing rights for Destiny to Bungie. With our remarkable Destiny community, we are ready to publish on our own, while Activision will increase their focus on owned IP projects.
Bungie will own the rights to Destiny which means that we could get some new content and maybe another game as well. It is too early to speculate regarding what will be announced but Bungie has confirmed that there will be a couple of big announcements in the future. The following is what the company had to say regarding the matter:
We’ll continue to deliver on the existing Destiny roadmap, and we’re looking forward to releasing more seasonal experiences in the coming months, as well as surprising our community with some exciting announcements about what lies beyond.
These are very exciting times. Forsaken was what brought players back to the franchise but it was not enough for Activision and its high standards. Now that Bungie is free from the publisher it will be interesting to see what the developer has in store for us.
The fans have taken this positively and are hoping that the future of Destiny 2 will be brighter now that Bungie has control over the future of the franchise. People are expecting Destiny 3 to blow the fans away and better content for Destiny 2. The news spread like wildfire on Twitter.
Let us know what you think about the future of Destiny 2 now that Activision and Bungie have parted ways and whether Bungie is going to announce a new title or more content for Destiny 2.
