Publisher EA Originals and developer Hazelight Studios have announced the pre-order launch date of Split Fiction for the Nintendo Switch 2. You will be able to pre-order your copy of Split Fiction for Nintendo Switch starting April 24, 2025, Thursday, for $49.99. Split Fiction is a launch title for the release of Nintendo Switch 2, the upcoming flagship hybrid console by Nintendo and the successor of the Nintendo Switch. Fans who purchase Nintendo Switch 2 at launch will be able to play Split Fiction right out of the box if they secure their pre-order.
Apart from the announcement, Hazelight Studios has also released a Development Deep Dive for Split Fiction about its development cycle for the Nintendo Switch 2 console. We have linked it below for you:
In the four-minute video, you will join Josef Fares, Founder & Creative Director at Hazelight Studios, and Oskar Wolontis, Chief Operating Officer at Hazelight Studios, as they share details about their favourite Nintendo games, their excitement for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and how they managed to bring their amazing co-op title Split Fiction to Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of Split Fiction will take full advantage of console-exclusive features: GameShare and GameChat.
With GameShare, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be able to invite another player to play a game together with them with just one copy of the game over a local wireless connection. The other player can use a Nintendo Switch 2 or a Nintendo Switch console to join the game, as long as the game is available on the current-gen hardware. This is separate from Split Fiction’s Friends Pass. You will be happy to know that Split Fiction will fully support its Friends Pass on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
With the Friend’s Pass, two players can jump into Split Fiction at the same time with a single copy of the game online. Not only that, but it will support Cross Play as well, which means that if you are jumping into the game on your brand-new Switch 2, another friend can join your game from their PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S as long as Split Fiction is available on that platform.
With GameChat, Split Fiction players will be able to communicate and collaborate with each other when playing online using the system’s built-in microphone. If you connect a Nintendo Switch 2 camera or any USB camera to the system, you will be able to share your video with them online as well.
