2020 is the year of next-generation consoles, however, with the current ongoing scenario of coronavirus spread across the world, things are not looking so good. Because of coronavirus, GDC 2020 and other video game conventions and events have been canceled, and because of this, we have missed out on a lot of potential information about different things coming out this year. One of these includes Microsoft’s next-gen console, the Xbox Series X, which was due to get some more information at this year’s GDC.
However, since GDC has been postponed and with no new date in sight, Microsoft has decided to take matters into its own hands and has announced two livestreams next week, which take place on two separate days and will update us on all the current developments. This includes the Xbox Series X as well. The livestreams will take place on Mixer where the studio will share all information with the world that it had initially planned for GDC 2020.
The livestreams will start on March 17, 2020, at 10:00 am PT and will happen on March 18, 2020, as well. The allotted slot for the Xbox Series X is on March 18, 2020, from 11:40 am to 12:40 pm. During this time slot, Microsoft will share more details about its upcoming console, and we are hopeful that we might get to see the device in action as well. There is still so much we do not know about the next-gen Xbox Series X, such as launch titles and more.
Microsoft also plans to detail Project xCloud, Microsoft’s very own video game streaming service, during the livestream. Microsoft has been pushing going digital for a long time and their launch of disc-less Xbox One and the Xbox Game Pass service is a clear example of this. With the Xbox Series X, it appears that Microsoft will push Project xCloud along with it. We can expect the service to release fully alongside the next-gen console however, there is no confirmation of this at this point.
Microsoft revealed their next-generation console, Xbox Series X, during The Game Awards 2019 and has been revealing more and more information about the console since then. We already know that Xbox Series X has four times the GPU power than that of Xbox One, and some of the games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Halo Infinite, and Dying Light 2, are heading to the console. You can follow the detailed livestream schedule to see which other information is coming to the event.
