State of Play Summer 2025 Recap - All Trailers, Announcements, World Premieres

With a surprise appearance during the Summer Game Fest season, PlayStation jumped in with their State of Play Summer 2025 showcase with some new trailers, news, and what we can expect to arrive on PlayStation in the coming months. If you missed seeing the show, we have all the news, announcements, and trailers from the event below. So, let’s jump into it:

Lumines Arise

Lumines Arise is a brand-new game from the developers of Tetris Effect. Lumines Arise is a synesthetic fusion of sound, light, and addictive puzzle gameplay where you will match blocks, create combos, and feel the music in every heartbeat. It is slated for release on PS5 and PS VR2.

Pragmata

Developed by Capcom, Pragmata is a brand-new sci-fi adventure game with a unique two-in-one twist of action and strategy. It is slated for release on PS5 in 2026.

Romeo is Dead Man

Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, Romeo is Dead Man is a new bloody action game where you bask in the crimson-red catharsis of ultra-violent action as you dive into a completely unpredictable story. It is slated for release on PS5 in 2025.

Silent Hill f

The psychological horror game Silent Hill f is launching on September 25, 2025, on the PS5 console.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is a prequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It is set in a haunting world years before and follows Leo and the fearless Black Wolves who must prepare to storm the Ethereal Castle and confront the rising darkness. It is slated for a 2026 release on the PS5.

Digimon Story Time Stranger

Digimon Story Time Stranger is the latest title in the ‘Digimon’ franchise, in which you embark on an adventure that spans across the human world and the Digital world as you raise and collect different Digimon to fight in turn-based battles. It is slated for release on October 3, 2025, on PS5.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles includes two different versions of the game: enhanced and classic. You will find fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, visual improvements, and many other quality of life features in the enhanced version, while the classic version brings the original title with a few improvements like the renowned War of the Lions translation and auto save. It will be released on September 30, 2025, on the PS5 console.

Baby Steps

In Bay Steps, you play as Nate, who is an unemployed failson with nothing good going on for him. One day, he discovers a unique power of putting one foot in front of the other, and it is all chaos from that point. Baby Steps is slated for release on September 8, 2025, for the PS5.

Hirogami

Hirogami is a 3D action platformer inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami. In this game, you will explore a beautiful world as Hiro, a fan-wielding master of the art of folding. You will embark on a journey to save your fragile home from deadly digital invaders. Hirogami launches September 3, 2025, on the PS5.

Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots

The brand-new title, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, launches with courses from 10 different regions around the world, weather and time changes, along with the largest character roster ever featured in the franchise. Pre-orders for the game are now live, and it launches September 5, 2025, on the PS5.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound comes from the minds behind Blasphemous. This game successfully combines the classic lore and gameplay of the NINJA GAIDEN series from the classic era with the depth and intensity of the modern 3D entries. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound launches July 31, 2025, for PS4 and PS5.

Cairn

Cairn is a unique video game in which you play as Aava, who is a mountain climber. In this realistic simulator, you will use your skills to climb everywhere and forge your own path to the summit of Mount Kami. Cairn is slated for release on November 5, 2025, on the PS5. A free demo is now live.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

NetherRealm Studios is teaming up with retro restoration experts at Digital Eclipse to bring back the classic Mortal Kombat titles to life in the form of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The collection will include over 20 different versions of Mortal Kombat, ranging from arcade, console, and handheld releases. Apart from the classic titles, the collection will also include an interactive documentary with rare concept art, archival footage, and brand-new interviews with Ed Boon and John Tobias, the series creators, along with many others. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will arrive for both PS5 and PS4 in 2025.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is a remake of the 2004 title Metal Gear Solid 3: SNAKE EATER, and it releases August 28, 2025, on the PS5 console. Pre-orders are now live.

Nioh 3

Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo Games revealed the brand-new announcement trailer for Nioh 3, the third game in their long-running samurai action RPG series. Nioh 3 will offer two distinct fighting styles – Samurai and Ninja – and you will use them to battle against formidable yokai in an open field setting. A free demo for Nioh 3 is now live on the PS5, and it arrives early 2026.

Project Defiant Wireless Fight Stick

PlayStation officially revealed its first-ever fight stick with the codename Project Defiant. Additional details about the stick will be revealed at a later stage.

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow

Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow brings the iconic Thief franchise to VR. You step into the shoes of Magpie, a cunning thief orphaned by Northcrest’s brutality and shaped by the streets, who steals as the only means to survive. You will use immersive VR mechanics to steal, evade, and outsmart the forces controlling the city. Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow launches on PS VR2 in 2025.

Tides of Tomorrow

Set on the oceanic planet of Elynd, Tides of Tomorrow is a multiplayer story where you choose who to follow, your friend, your favorite streamer, and then you uncover their choices, deal with their consequences, and shape their story. On Elynd, life is facing extinction from a deadly disease, but all the players are the chosen ones who can rewrite the story. Tides of Tomorrow arrives February 24, 2026, on PS5.

Astro Bot New Levels + DualSense Controller

Developed by Team Asobo, Astro Bot is getting a brand-new Challenge DLC soon. 5 new levels later this month for free. The new DLC will allow you to customize your Astro Bot with new skins from upcoming PlayStation titles like Ghost of Yotei. Astro Bot is currently available on PS5. Team Asobo also announced that the Astro Bot DualSense is coming back later this year with a brand-new twist.

Sea of Remnants

Sea of Remnants is a free-to-play voyage-themed RPG featuring turn-based combat. You will build your island life and carve the memory into the infinite tides while recruiting your crews and exploring new routes through the magenta-hued ocean currents. Sea of Remnants is slated to launch in 2026 on PS5.

Sword of the Sea

Sword of the Sea is the brand-new title by the developers of Abzu, The Pathless, and Journey. In this brand-new title, you will explore a mysterious and visually stunning world with high-speed movement inspired by skateboarding games. You will surf over a surreal landscape of waves on your Hoversword and unveil a lost ocean teeming with life. August 19, 2025, PS5

007 First Light

007 First Light is a brand-new James Bond game since forever. You will step into the shoes of a young James Bond who is resourceful and sometimes reckless while going through M16’s training program. It will feature an origin story of the world’s most famous spy, and it launches in 2026 on the PS5.

PS Plus Catalogue Update

PS2 version of Dues Ex: The Conspiracy arrives on June 17, 2025, on Premium
Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal 4 arrive on July 15, 2025, on Premium
Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 arrive on the Classics Catalog in Summer 2025 on Premium
Myst and Riven: The Sequel to Myst arrive on PS Plus later this month as part of the Days of Play Celebration. It lasts until June 11, 2025.

Ghost of Yotei

The upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, received a small teaser with the announcement of a gameplay deep dive coming in July 2025.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Probably the biggest surprise from the event, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a brand-new 4v4 fighting game with some of the most iconic Marvel characters. The first reveal trailer showed us a few of the characters from the game, such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Storm, Dr. Doom, and more. It is slated for a PS5 and PC launch in 2026.
