Indie Quest 2025 is a brand-new showcase that is all about JRPGs. Hosted by Taylor Hoyt of The Gaming Shelf, this showcase featured some of the best JRPGs that are coming in 2025 and beyond. Filled with cool trailers, news, and announcements, we got to see over 40 titles during the show, spanning over a wide range of retro-inspired classics, turn-based RPGs, tactical RPGs, action RPGs, and the iconic pixel art adventures. If you love playing JRPGs and spend hours upon hours on these gaming behemoths, this show is for you. Legends of Starkadia
Developed by Doom Turtle, Legends of Starkadia is a quirky turn-based RPG full of action-packed adventure. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon.
Alterium Shift
Developed by Drattzy Games LLC, Alterium Shift is a retro-inspired JRPG featuring turn-based combat and choice-driven storylines. It is currently available on PC via Steam in Early Access.
Zerra’s Adventures
Developed by Foca Studios, Zerra’s Adventures is a classic turn-based JRPG with no random encounters. You will explore diverse areas, collect items and treasures to level up to improve your team, and defeat enemies. It is slated for a PC Steam release in 2026, and a Kickstarter campaign for the game will go live soon as well.
The Time I Have Left
Developed by Ground, The Time I Have Left is a time-driven escape adventure game with RPG elements set in a complex underground facility. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon, and a free demo for the game is currently live.
The Backworld
Developed by Numor Games and published by Top Hat Studios, Inc., The Backworld is a horror RPG in which you slip between the cracks of reality into a broken world. You must survive with strategy, battle when required, and flee when you cannot win. It is slated for a PC Steam release in Q1 2026.
Forge of the Fae
Developed by Datadyne LLC, Forge of the Fae is a charming, pixel-style, retro modern RPG in which you explore a story-rich, mysterious world inspired by Celtic folklore. In the game, you will use crystals to channel powerful magic and make impactful choices to tailor the story. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon, and you can try its free demo right now.
Tactics Returners
Developed by Triple Tech Arts, Tactics Returners is a TRPG inspired by the golden ages of the genre. The game blends modern gameplay mechanics with advanced 2D visuals as you join the struggle for freedom, face decisive tactics, and challenge superior forces to shape the future. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon.
Kingdoms of the Dump
Developed by Roach Games with Dream Sloth Games, Kingdoms of the Dump is a SNES-style JRPG set in a fantasy world of garbage. Developed by two real-life janitors, the game allows you to step into the shoes of Trash Can Knight, Dustin Binsley, as he fights his way through Five and a Half Kingdoms of the Dump. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon.
Cairn: Mathair’s Curse
Developed by Ross McRitchie, Cains: Mathair’s Curse is a heartfelt Scottish turn-based story RPG about a boy and his mother. The game explores love, loss, and family. It is slated for a PC Steam release in 2025, and you can download and try its free demo right now.
Cyberthreat
Developed by Aphelios, Cyberthreat is an upcoming turn-based RPG featuring life simulation elements set in a modern-day city. It is slated for a PC Steam release.
Shrine’s Legacy
Developed by Positive Concept Games and published by indie.io, Shrine’s Legacy is a SNES-era-inspired, 16-bit RPG set in Ardemia. In the game, you follow a pair of heroes as they try to unite the elements of magic, restore the Sword of Shrine, and offer both single-player and co-op gameplay options. Rising Spire
Developed by LFB Studios, Rising Spire is a turn-based RPG inspired by classic titles. You play the game as Atlas, who is a young Nephilim, and his world is on the brink of destruction at the hands of Divinity. It was released on PC via Steam in Early Access back in July 2023.
Runa
Developed by Fennec Studio, Runa is an indie adventure inspired by JRPG classics featuring a turn-based battle system, social links, and a story-rich science fantasy world. It is slated for a PC Steam release sometime later.
Colossus – Eternal Blight
Developed by RUSTIC PANDA GAMES LLC, Colossus – Eternal Blight is an action-adventure RPG in which you must traverse a vast world to find Lucian’s brother. You will explore, uncover secrets, and utilize Lucian’s abilities to fight corrupted creatures and purify the land. It is slated for a PC Steam release soon.
Quartet
Developed by Something Classic Games LLC, Quartet is a turn-based RPG where you can choose from four stories in any order and figure out how they intertwine with each other. Each story features a different set of events, like a series of train robberies, a mysterious deck of cards, a fleet of deadly airships, and an accidental mage. Light Fairytale Episode 3
Developed by neko.works, the Light Fairytale is a turn-based JRPG series that features a modern presentation with a classic core. Episode 3 continues the story with Haru as he gathers a party of friends on his journey to the lost Sky. It will be released on PC via Steam sometime later. At this point, the first two episodes are available.

Developed by Yahya Danboos, Luminous Nights is a HeartsLike action-RPG inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights. Artis Impact
Developed by Mas, Artis Impact is a turn-based RPG set in the future world of humans and AI. You play as Akane and explore vibrant locations, battle with simple and fluid combat mechanics, and complete side quests full of charming surprises. Astromeda
Developed by Liran Kamisa, Astromeda is an adventure RPG that combines turn-based and fast-paced action combat with a mysterious world. As a human, you return to Earth to find it inhabited by intelligent bacteria. It is slated for release on PC via Steam, PS5, and Nintendo Switch in 2025. Godshard Chronicles
Developed by J-Cat Games Limited, Godshard Chronicles is a top-down action RPG based in the Godshard novels universe featuring music by famed composer Norijuki Iwadare. Godshared Chronicles is inspired by classic RPG titles like The Legend of Zelda, Grandia, and the Mana series. It is slated for release on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox soon. Guard Break
Developed by Sudden Kebab Studios, Guard Break is a tribute to the 90s 3D JRPGs. In it, you will explore different environments, power up your party, and battle enemies while uncovering secrets behind a mysterious threat. Dome RPG

Developed by Picorinne Soft, Disc Creatures World is a monster-taming RPG where you will embark on a grand adventure through a world full of mysteries while uncovering Discs to collect your own party of creatures. It is slated for a PC Steam release in 2026.

Spaceman Memories
Developed by NerdyPunkDev, Spaceman Memories is a retro JRPG set in a distant future, but it draws its inspiration from Japanese folktales. Spaceman Memories is slated for release on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2025
Last Moon
Developed by Skoll Studio, Last Moon is an action RPG that is inspired by the classic titles of the 90s. You will explore a vast ruined world riddled with dangers and face tainted creatures. It is slated for release on PC via Steam in 2025, and you can try out its free demo now.
JPRGs That Need Our Help Reel
Next up, we got to see two JRPGs which were supposed to come out this year, but since they failed to find publishing partners, the developers have decided to delay both of them indefinitely. Despite successful Kickstarter campaigns, it is a shame to see these titles fail to come out due to budget constraints. These two titles are Armed Fantasia and Pennyblood. There are multiple ways to support both developers, such as pre-ordering the game on BackerKit or by buying their merch.
Echoes of the Stars
Developed by Alchimia Studios, Echoes of the Stars is a 2D hand-painted action RPG in which you must confront fate and gods themselves while exploring beautiful locations. You must gain new skills, fight challenging enemies, and unfold an epic story. It is slated for a PC Steam release in Q4 2025.
Starlight Legacy
Developed by Decafesoft and published by Eastasiasoft Limited, Starlight Legacy is a 16-bit JRPG set in the vast kingdom of Evaria. As three warriors tasked with finding the Starlight relics, you must collect them in any order and explore different locations to ensure the kingdom’s survival. Starlight Legacy is available on PC via Steam, GOG, Windows Store, along with PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A free demo for the game is also live on PC.
Escape From Ever After
Developed by Sleepy Castle Studio and published by HypeTrain Digital, Escape From Ever After is an RPG inspired by classic Paper Mario games. A newly hired storybook hero must rise the corporate ladder and fight back when a greedy megacorp starts taking over fairytales for their cheap labor. To The Grave: The Wildlands of Faenora
Developed by 2TG Entertainment, To The Grave: The Wildlands is a turn-based strategy game combined with a unique roguelite gameplay loop inspired by classic tactics RPGs. Developed by (Just)Jordan, and published by Jordan Peloquin, You Are NOT Bunnygirl is a unique RPG that is all about self-care. Serial World

Infinite Alliance
Developed by Critical Games and published by Electric Airship, Infinite Alliance is a unique crossover event RPG in which heroes and villains from 13+ indie JPRGs collide. You will find characters from titles like Chained Echoes, Jack Move, 8-Bit Adventures 2, Beloved Rapture, and more for an adventure. It is slated for release on PC via Steam in 2026.
