CD Projekt RED’s Gwent is Getting a Brand New Expansion Novigrad

CD Projekt RED has announced a brand new expansion for its free-to-play Gwent card game called Novigrad which will introduce many new mechanics to the game and will also add a new faction to the game. Gwent Novigrad received a cool trailer which gives us a little history of the free city as well along with some basic information on what we can expect from the new expansion arriving later this month.

The new expansion will add a brand new faction The Syndicate to Gwent which will bring with it 90 new cards. Players will be able to collect and create all new decks with these brand new cards that represent the various sides of Novigrad’s underworld. Among these 90 cards, players will find 15 cross-faction cards which can be used in any existing deck in Gwent.

The expansion will also bring 5 brand new leaders each boasting their own unique abilities to the game. Fans of the franchise will instantly recognize these new leaders as the include Cleaver the gang leader, King of Beggars and Hemmelfart who is the city’s hierarch. Each leader can be used in existing decks or make brand new ones to use their own unique abilities.

Novigrad will also introduce some new mechanics in the mix. Two of the most prominent new features coming to the game include Fee keyword and Profit keyword. The expansion will also add a brand new battle resource called Crowns to the game which works with the Fee keyword and allows players to activate card abilities during the matches.

The Profit keyword will give players a specified number of Crowns whenever a card which has this keyword is used in the battle. Along with this, Crimes will also help players get some income in the game which are exclusive to the Syndicate deck. Some Crimes can also activate secondary effects which are exceptionally helpful in different scenarios.
