Ubisoft has confirmed that Riders Republic will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, 2026, bringing its open-world extreme sports experience to Nintendo’s latest console. The announcement coincides with the game’s fifth anniversary celebrations, which also include a limited-time free weekend and the introduction of offline single-player play across platforms.
Originally released in 2021, Riders Republic is an open-world sports game that brings several extreme sports together in a shared outdoor playground. Players can switch between mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit flying while exploring environments inspired by American national parks, including Yosemite, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. Skateboarding and additional activities have also been added since launch.
Developed by Ubisoft Annecy and other Ubisoft studios, the game features solo activities, competitive multiplayer, co-op, and mass races involving dozens of players. Its large open world also contains events, challenges, collectibles, and opportunities to customize a rider’s appearance and equipment.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will arrive alongside Nomad mode, which introduces offline play across the game’s current platforms. Players will be able to explore the world and progress through much of the single-player content without an internet connection. Progress made offline will synchronize with the player’s online save after reconnecting.
Some features will still require an internet connection, including multiplayer modes, seasonal progression, the in-game shop, sponsors, and user-created events. Players can try Riders Republic for free from October 22 to 26, 2026, across currently available platforms. Progress made during the trial will carry over if players purchase the game afterward.
The free weekend is part of Ubisoft’s fifth-anniversary celebrations, which also feature limited-time in-game events, crossover cosmetics based on other Ubisoft franchises, and an in-game concert featuring Belgian DJ and producer Henri PFR. Ubisoft says the game has attracted more than 17 million players since its original launch, providing context for the anniversary and the upcoming Switch 2 release.
Riders Republic received generally favorable reviews at launch. On Metacritic, the game holds a critic score of 77, based on 51 reviews, while its user score is 6.8. Critics praised its variety of sports, accessible gameplay, and expansive environments, although some reviews raised concerns about repetitive activities, progression, and presentation.
Steam users have also responded positively. At the time of writing, the game has a Very Positive rating, with 82% of English-language reviews positive and recent reviews rated Very Positive as well.
Riders Republic launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, 2026. The same date also marks the arrival of offline single-player play on other current platforms. Riders Republic is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Ubisoft Connect.
