Publisher Dear Villagers and indie developer Caracal Games have announced the console and PC release of Star Overdrive following its Nintendo Switch debut. Star Overdrive was released on Nintendo Switch back in April 2025, and it was met with great reception. Following this great response on Nintendo’s flagship device, the developers have now announced that their high-speed open-world action title Star Overdrive will release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC to allow even more players to experience it.

Caracal Games is not only working to port Star Overdrive to additional platforms, but they have also detailed in the official press release that the team is actively collecting feedback from Nintendo Switch players. This feedback will be used to make the game better, not only on Nintendo Switch, but also for other platforms ahead of its release. The new release will be more optimized and will have additional optimization and enhancements right at launch.
Key features of Star Overdrive include:
- Hoverboard Navigation and Racing: Speed through vast landscapes, perform incredible tricks, and gain the edge in intense combat.
- Emergent Physics-Based Gameplay: Unleash and combine powers to battle enemies, bend the laws of physics, and solve intricate puzzles.
- Mysterious and Diverse Alien World: Journey through four uniquely distinct biomes, each brimming with challenges and secrets to uncover.
- Epic Battles Against Creatures of All Sizes: Engage with unique creatures, from small-scale rivals to towering bosses, each requiring strategy and skill to overcome.
Pre-orders for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game are now live, while an official Steam page for the game is also now live. You can either pre-order the game or add it to your wishlist. The standard edition of Star Overdrive costs $34.99, and the Deluxe Edition costs $39.99. It also comes with 3 styles, 1 design, and 50 dyes for the Hoverboard, along with the Original Soundtrack and the digital Manga written and drawn by the Caracal Games team. The manga narrates a prequel story to the Star Overdrive main story.
