Ubisoft has revealed Operation System Override, Season 2 of Year 11, currently ongoing in Rainbow Six Siege, at the Salt Lake City Major. The season puts competitive play front and center, with a major ranked overhaul, the first new competitive map in three years, and a rework for one of the game’s most recognizable operators.
The biggest change coming with the season is Ranked 3.0. The hidden Matchmaking Rank is gone, and progress is now fully transparent; your visible rank reflects your actual skill level. Placement matches are back, rank adjustments are faster, and you’ll only be matched against players of the same visual rank. The rewards system has also been reworked, with seasonal cosmetics, Competitive Coins, and Alpha Packs now earned primarily through matches played.
The season also introduces Calypso Casino, the first new competitive map since Year 8. Based on the iconic location from Rainbow Six Vegas and rebuilt for today’s competitive standards, the map is built around vertical play, a rooftop crane, a basement spawn for scaling the exterior, and an expanded drone vent network, all of which open up new routes and strategies. It launches directly into the Ranked pool and will enter the esports map rotation in Season 3.
Dokkaebi gets a full rework that sharpens her role as an intel-denial attacker. Her ability is now more focused and targeted, and she gains access to the new XK23 assault rifle, which is also being added to Sens and Rauora’s kits.
Mid-season brings native mouse and keyboard support to consoles, paired with matchmaking rules to keep things fair, alongside the existing Mousetrap detection tool for unauthorized peripheral use. Emerald Plains, Kanal, and Outback also receive map updates, and deeper esports integration adds detailed Tier 1 team and player statistics directly within the in-game esports tab.
