Developer and publisher Sharkmob has officially announced the playtest for Exoborne, a tactical extraction shooter set in a world devastated by nature’s fury. From February 12 to 17, you will have the opportunity to explore Colton County, a treacherous environment filled with deadly natural forces, hostile factions, and intense player-versus-player-versus-environment (PvPvE) combat.
In Exoborne, you embody the Reborn, survivors equipped with powerful, customizable Exo-Rigs that enhance survival and combat capabilities. These advanced tools allow you to tailor their approach, balancing strategic loadouts and adaptability to overcome the dangers of this volatile world. The stakes are high, as you must contend with rival factions, relentless environmental hazards, and other participants vying for limited resources.

The game’s playtest will feature open participation for PC users via Steam. You interested in joining can sign up on the game’s official Steam page to secure access keys. The testing period begins February 12 at 5 AM PST and concludes February 17 at the same time.
Brynley Gibson, Executive Producer at Sharkmob, expressed enthusiasm for this milestone, stating:
“After conducting extensive closed testing, this large-scale playtest marks an exciting new chapter. Community feedback will be invaluable as we refine and elevate Exoborne to its full potential.”
Set in a shattered world, Exoborne immerses you in the aftermath of Project Rebirth, where extreme weather phenomena and societal collapse have turned survival into an unrelenting challenge. As Reborn, you must navigate this dangerous landscape, leveraging their Exo-Rigs to weather storms, engage in tactical battles, and traverse the vertically dynamic terrain.
The Exo-Rigs, a cornerstone of the gameplay, are highly adaptable, enabling you to customize their abilities and movements. These tools not only aid survival but also allow strategic manipulation of natural forces, adding a unique layer of depth to combat and exploration.
You can look forward to features like high-stakes extraction gameplay, vertical exploration, scavenging and customization options, and dynamic public events that offer significant rewards. The evolving narrative promises to unveil deeper mysteries, setting the stage for future updates and content expansions.
Sharkmob, based in Malmö, Sweden, previously released Bloodhunt, a battle royale game within the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. With Exoborne, the studio aims to redefine multiplayer experiences, utilizing Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a dynamic and immersive world.
A Steam page for Exoborne is now live where you can add the game to your wishlist to stay updated on all upcoming updates. In addition, if you want to apply for the upcoming playtest, you can sign up for it through the game’s Steam page as well. The developers will reveal additional information about the game in the upcoming days.
