Developer and publisher Larian Studios has finally released the final major Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3, which brings some much-needed features to the game. The patch is now live across all platforms, including PC, consoles, and Mac. This final patch is a big one, and it is a proper goodbye to the title by the developers as it brings 12 new subclasses, a dedicated photo mode, crossplay, and much more for everyone, free of cost.
Starting with the two most-requested features by fans, Baldur’s Gate 3 now has crossplay support along with a dedicated photo mode. Both features were at the top of the request list since the game’s launch, and now they have finally arrived in the game. The developer announced this nearly 2 months ago, and they have made special guides for both of these features. If you need to learn how you can get started with Baldur’s Gate 3’s crossplay, check out the video below:
And, if you need help with the game’s brand-new photo mode, you can check out the detailed tutorial video below:
The new update also brings a new subclass for each of the 12 main classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 so there are 12 new subclasses for you to explore and build. Each new subclass features new abilities, animations, VFX, unique summons, and powerful cantrips. The Paladin subclass, the Oath of the Crown Paladin, has new voiced dialogue for the Oathbreaker Knight as well in the new update. The complete list of new subclasses:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Way of The Drunken Master
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic

Apart from these major additions, the new update also adds Steam Trading Cards, which will allow PC Steam players to craft badges and unlock exclusive profile backgrounds and emoticons to use there. With the release of the final patch, Larian Studios is now passing the development torch into the hands of its community and players with the launch of the brand-new official Modding Toolkit Update. It brings with it quality-of-life updates, partial level editing for existing items, characters, and triggers, which will allow players to create their very own ambitious projects.
Larian Studios suggests that if players need additional help with modding or if they wish to know how to get started with modding in Baldur’s Gate 3, they check out the Official Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit Documentation. Larian Studios is now officially shifting its energies towards new projects, and their new YouTube channel, Larian: Channel From Hell, will help ease the wait for any news by starting regular live streams. The first took place yesterday with the special Patch 8 launch celebratory stream, and now every Wednesday, a new Livestream will take place so you can tune in there to learn more about the studio and their current projects.
The studio also released a special Animated Short for the Patch 8 launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, which we have linked below for you:
