Larian Studios has revealed a fairly huge gameplay stream of the upcoming highly-anticipated game Baldur’s Gate 3 which showcases tons of new game mechanics. Previously, the studio has only revealed the cinematic trailer of Baldur’s Gate 3 but now during PAX East in full swing, the developer released nearly one-hour footage of the game which also reveals the game’s opening cinematic, character creation, and some starting areas.
Baldur’s Gate 3 looks to be amazing so far considering that the game is still in development. The starting areas show us the beautiful world and the visuals of the game’s engine. The character development and the world detail look very precise and crisp. The animations appear to be smooth whole the dialogue choices appear to be as generous as always. Depending on the situation you are in, the game will add and remove dialogue choices as you interact with the characters around you in the game.
One of the new mechanics introduced in Baldur’s Gate 3 is that the developer has decided to opt for their traditional turn-based combat instead of the turn-based combat that featured pausing the time which was present in the first two Baldur’s Gate games. The addition of this new combat mechanic makes the game really good as we can see in the trailer which showcases plenty of combat as well.

The combat now focuses on positioning and creative strategy more giving you more options to tackle each combat scenario in the game. If you prefer positioning members of your party before a battle, you can activate a turn-based sequence on-demand to gain a positive advantage in combat scenarios. You will still roll a dice to make skill checks and there always chances of traps such as fireball traps or a puddle of grease.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in development and Laian Studios plans to release the game in Early Access in 2020 on PC via Steam. A full release window for the game is not known at this point.
