Baldur’s Gate 3 Might Skip Epic Games Store at Release, Steam and GOG Confirmed

Baldurs Gate 3

With Larian Studios confirming the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, the Larian Studios founder and CEO Swen Vincke stated that Baldur’s Gate 3 is skipping Epic Games Store and will only release on PC via Steam and GOG. The developer confirmed the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 yesterday during the Stadia Connect event and later revealed the platforms while speaking with US Gamer.

According to the statement given to US Gamer, Swen Vincke said:

You will see Steam pages pop up, you will see GOG pages pop up, but no Epic pages will pop up. I don’t see why not; I don’t believe in exclusives; I prefer to be everywhere. Everything we’ve done in the past has been about adapting to the divide that you’re playing on, because the device shouldn’t matter when it comes to playing our games. That’s the only way they’re going to spread, so I really don’t want to locked down to one platform or another.

However, after this statement was issued, the developer reached out to US Gamer and stated that when the game will be announced, the store pages will go live only on Steam and GOG and Swen’s statement does not confirm at this point that whether the title will be released on Epic Games Store or not. This shows that the title might be available on Epic Games Store at a later point as well.

Since Swen clearly mentioned that he does not believe in exclusivity, it shows that they are not going to skip Epic Games Store as well and the game will come out on all three platforms even right at launch. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a long-awaited return of the franchise and the developers are not going to take the freedom away from players to play the game on their favorite client.
