Epic Games Planning to Add Undo Purchase Token in Fortnite

Undo Purchase Fortnite

Epic Games has shown interest in adding an Undo Purchase Token feature in Fortnite to help players who accidentally make a purchase. Currently, if players go to the in-game shop and press X on any store item, the item is instantly purchased if the player has enough V-bucks in their account.

This has caused misery for many players as they have accidentally purchased items they did not intended to purchase. The Japanese version of Fortnite comes with a confirmation before purchase because the Region 3 consoles have switched X/O buttons which can be very confusing for players.

However, after many accidental purchases, Epic Games is planning to add an Undo Purchase Token system in the game which will allow players to get a refund for their purchase within 5 minutes. Players who start a match and then come back for redemption of the token will not be eligible for the refund.

This was shared by a developer on the Reddit thread created by SpicyHabanero69 who after discovering the feature in the Japanese build, too to Reddit to share with the world that the western build is mission this important feature and Epic might be deliberately holding it back causing players to spend their V-bucks accidentally and then paying more for the item they wanted to purchase in the first place.

In reply to this thread, one of the developers from Epic Games jumped in to defend the company and said that this is not the case and Epic Games is considering to add a ‘undo’ button to the in-game store very soon to prevent accidental purchases. He said

We neither want to add friction for players nor do we want to benefit from accidental purchases or players regretting a purchase. Our initial solution for this was to add a refund token system. As an ongoing iteration. We are going to introduce an ‘undo’ button to the store page that allows you to easily refund without using up a token within a 5 minute time window, assuming you haven’t started a match since purchase. PlayStation 4 in Japan is a bit of special case due to X / O button meaning being swapped by default and there also being options to reverse the meanings of the buttons.

This statement confirms that players will get a way to get their money back if they purchase something accidentally however after the developer’s reply, fans still wanted that a confirmation message would have been a lot better than giving a refund token option further complicating things.

Epic Games has not announced a formal date for this feature’s release however keep checking back as we will update you guys whenever we have a final date for its release.
