Finnish game studio Social First has announced its debut title, Nexus Station, a cross-platform free-to-play social sandbox MMO. The studio, formed by industry veterans, aims to create a game that functions as both a social platform and a gaming experience. Leveraging their extensive background in community management and game development, the team is set to deliver a new kind of social sandbox MMO that emphasizes player interaction and creativity.
The official press release details: The core concept of Nexus Station is to provide you with a dynamic environment where they can create their own worlds and share them with the broader community. You will be able to craft, trade, and collaborate in clans, engaging in both competitive and cooperative activities. In addition to these features, the studio plans to introduce an official secondary marketplace, allowing you to trade in-game items for real money. This integration aims to enhance the in-game economy and offer you more tangible rewards for your creativity and effort.
To coincide with the announcement, a gameplay trailer has been released, along with a sign-up page for you eager to stay updated on the game’s progress and upcoming news as the studio prepares for the full launch. Check out the Announcement Trailer for Nexus Station below:
The team behind Nexus Station brings a wealth of experience in social gaming, having previously worked on titles like Pixel Worlds, Habbo Hotel, Runescape, and MovieStarPlanet. CEO Kim Soares believes that Nexus Station represents the next evolution in social gaming, aiming to transform how games function as social platforms.
Soares commented: “Games are rapidly becoming the most important social platform for millions of people, offering a place to meet new friends and maintain connections, regardless of physical distance. Nexus Station is being designed to serve as much a social platform as it is a game. We’re excited to provide you around the world with a space where they can express their creativity, forge lasting friendships, and enjoy a truly social gaming experience.”
The game is set to launch in Early Access on mobile later this year, with PC access to follow. Social First has already started sharing behind-the-scenes content and teasers with their core community. A Steam page for the game is now live where you can add the game to your wishlist. Additional details about the game will be revealed in the upcoming months.
