Bandai Namco has announced the release date of its new action RPG Scarlet Nexus and it is releasing this June. Apart from the video game, the studio has also announced the release window of its Scarlet Nexus Anime which is also slated for a release this summer through Funimation. The anime series is being produced by Sunrise, the studio behind Mobile Suit Gundam and Cowboy Bepop.
The announcements were made via new trailers for both the video game and the anime series of Scarlet Nexus. The anime series trailer is not really a detailed trailer but can be considered just a teaser of the series. The new Scarlet Nexus trailer reveals a new character Kasane that will be featured in the game when it comes out. Check it out below:
We have also linked the teaser for the anime series below:
Scarlet Nexus is a blend of RPG and action video games such as Devil May Cry. The new trailer also showcases some of the weird enemies that you will be facing in the game when it comes out later this year. The enemies look like something that you would normally find in a Silent Hill title mashed with the art style of Scarlet Nexus. The game will feature a unique story that the developer details as:
In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it. Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity.
Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense. Take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit to the OSF aiming to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with a talent in psycho-kinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in Scarlet Nexus.
