Hyperkin has announced three new color variants of its Competitor controller: the Midas Touch, Murasaki, and Widow editions. They are available to pre-order now ahead of an expected shipping date of July 9, 2026.
The three editions are distinguished primarily by their colors, with Midas Touch arriving in gold, Murasaki in purple, and Widow in red. The hardware underneath is the same Competitor controller that has already been on the market, a premium gamepad designed for PC, Xbox, and game streaming devices.
Main features of The Competitor include hall-effect thumbsticks, which use magnetic sensors rather than the resistive components found in standard controllers, removing the mechanical wear that leads to stick drift over time. The sticks sit inside metal glide rings with anti-friction gates and come with a choice of dome or concave thumbstick caps. The triggers use the same hall-effect approach for consistency, while the face buttons run on membrane switches and the D-pad uses a segmented design aimed at improving directional precision.
Beyond the core inputs, the controller includes twin programmable back buttons, a 3.5mm headset jack, an integrated mic mute button, a laser-textured grip, and ultra-low-latency response. It is a fairly complete feature set for a controller in this price range.
All three editions are priced at $49.99 in the US, and you can secure your favorite one with a pre-order through Amazon or your favorite online retailer. The controller launches simultaneously in North America, Europe, and the UK.
