Hyperkin is Developing a New NES Light Gun for Modern TVs

Hyperkin Light Gun

Hyperkin is a very famous and world-renowned video game peripheral maker and it has announced that it will soon reveal a new light gun similar to the classic NES console variant which will work with the modern TVs.

The latest variant is named ‘Hyper Blaster HD for NES’ and it will be used to play Duck Hunt on the original NES console but on modern displays. According to Hyperkin, Duck Hunt was always meant to be played with the light gun but sadly the classic variant was not working with the modern television sets due to advanced technology.

This new Hyper Blaster HD will fully support modern displays which have HD support. However, anyone who buys Hyper Blaster HD will require the original NES console and the game Duck Hunt cartridge as they are not included with the bundle. The new light gun peripheral will only work with NES console.

The limitation to NES console for the new console means that players will need a fully functional NES console along with the Duck Hunt cartridge otherwise Hyper Blaster HD will be of no use to them. At this point, its compatibility with the new NES Classic is also not known or whether it will be supported by any other shooting game.

According to the press release, the following information is available.

  • Play Duck Hunt for the NES with a light gun on an HDTV (original Duck Hunt cartridge and NES required)
  • Includes special Hyper Blaster HD light gun
  • Includes Hyper Blaster HD Adapter to allow HDTV compatibility

Hyperkin will soon release more information about the new light gun accessory. Along with this, Hyperkin is also planning to reveal a special custom kit which will allow players to develop their own retro consoles which will be able to run SNES cartridges. Details about this this kit are also very limited at this point.

Building our own custom retro SNES console surely sounds promising and we cannot wait for Hyperkin to announce more details on both the RetroN DIY for SNES and the Hyper Blaster HD light gun accessory.
