This Subnautica 2 Work Light Guide details how you can find the work light fragments and craft one easily. The Work Light is a handy item that gives you a portable source of light while exploring dark areas. It can be carried around, placed where needed, or attached to your vehicle for extra visibility. Before you can craft it, you will need to locate and scan two Work Light fragments hidden near the Alien Ruins region.
Work Light Guide – Subnautica 2
To begin, progress through the main story until you unlock access to the Alien Ruins area. The location where you need to go in Alien Ruins is the Research Outpost, which will serve as your starting point.
Finding the First Work Light Fragment
From the Research Outpost, head toward the large mountain located to the southeast at 155-165 degrees. As you travel in that direction, you will notice a platform off to the right side.

Once you reach this area, look up from the platform toward a higher section of the mountain up ahead. Make your way to the top of this mountain, and you will find the first Work Light fragment waiting to be scanned. Use your scanner to collect the blueprint progress before moving on.
Finding the Second Work Light Fragment
After scanning the first fragment, move slightly to the right. Nearby, at the bottom, you will come across an opening in the ground leading down into a lower area.

Drop into this hole and explore the space below. The second Work Light fragment can be found here. Scan it to complete the blueprint unlock requirement. With both fragments scanned, the Work Light should now be available in your menu.
Crafting the Work Light
Once the blueprint is unlocked, open your Habitat Builder and navigate to the Utility section. You will now see the Work Light listed among the available items.
The crafting requirements are straightforward, requiring only 3 Titanium and 2 Quartz. After gathering the materials, you can build as many Work Lights as you need.
How the Work Light Works
The Work Light functions as a portable lighting tool that can be placed wherever extra visibility is needed. Unlike fixed base lighting, it can be moved around freely. It uses a battery, allowing it to operate independently. If the battery runs out, simply replace it with a new one to continue using the light.
Using It with Vehicles
One of the most useful features of the Work Light is its compatibility with vehicle hardpoints. If your vehicle has an available attachment point, you can mount the Work Light directly onto it.
This can be especially helpful when exploring dark environments far from your base. Instead of relying solely on your vehicle’s built-in lighting, you can carry an additional light source wherever you go.
