Developer and publisher Morbidware Studio, in collaboration with Stockholm Kartell, has unveiled MORK BORG Heresy Supreme, an upcoming action RPG set in the haunting universe of the MORK BORG tabletop game. The launch is anticipated for Q4 2025 on Steam, and a Kickstarter campaign will kick off in early October. Backers of the campaign can expect exclusive rewards at the game’s launch.
Set against a backdrop of doom metal, MORK BORG Heresy Supreme thrusts you into a side-scrolling, semi-procedural world filled with grimdark fantasy elements. You take on the role of wretched antiheroes navigating through a dystopian landscape, all while grappling with their own choices that could either avert or exacerbate the impending apocalypse.
Check out the Announcement Trailer below:
As you awaken in Galgenbeck, a decaying city overshadowed by the Cathedral of the Two-Headed Basilisks, they are drawn into a narrative where a voice from the cathedral calls for sacrifices to delay the world’s end. Rumors circulate in the filthy alleys about the possibility of receiving a blessing from the enigmatic Arch-Priestess Josilfa Migol for those who comply. As cursed walkers plagued by visions of doom, you must seek salvation in any form they can find.
Building alliances with companions is a central theme in this brutal realm, but trust is scarce. Each potential ally comes with their own motives, and betrayal can lead to dire consequences. The world outside Galgenbeck is divided into increasingly perilous regions, where quests and adventures are dynamically generated, ensuring that no two playthroughs are alike.
Heresy Supreme introduces a unique leveling system where you improve your characters by performing specific actions during gameplay rather than through traditional experience points. This system also carries risks, as leveling up can result in a decrease in certain abilities, adding a layer of unpredictability to character development.
As you delve deeper into this decaying world, they will face Miseries and catastrophic events that grow more severe as the game progresses. These apocalyptic occurrences are driven by the Calendar of Nechrubel, and while some of you believe they can be postponed, attempting to do so is considered heretical and fraught with peril.
The game also features the use of Omens, special abilities that you can employ to maximize damage or manipulate outcomes in critical situations. However, these powers come with their risks and uncertainties, creating a constant sense of tension and excitement.
For those who dare to wield ancient powers, casting spells from esoteric scrolls introduces the potential for Arcane Catastrophes, unexpected disasters that can lead to both thrilling and disastrous results. With the ability to influence encounters through a variety of mechanics, you must remain strategic as they navigate the game’s many challenges.
Co-founder of Morbidware, Diego Sacchetti, expressed excitement about the project, stating that the MORK BORG RPG rulebook inspired them to create a video game that captures the narrative and chaotic essence of the original. Johan Nohr, visual artist and co-creator of MORK BORG, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unique vision they are crafting together for the Kickstarter campaign.
MORK BORG Heresey Supreme is slated for a PC Steam release in Q4 2025. A Steam page is now live for the game and if you are interested in playing it when it comes out, you can add it to your wishlist to stay updated on future news and announcements. If you wish to help the developers with its development, consider supporting them through the official Kickstarter page when the campaign goes live.
