Developer MercurySteam and publisher 505 Games have revealed the final details of the Blades of Fire Version 2.0 update, introducing a brutal new difficulty mode and a New Game Plus option, ahead of the game’s Steam launch on May 14, 2026.
The update is the last in a weekly feature reveal series and adds two significant content additions to the dark fantasy action-adventure, which is already available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store on PC.
Players looking for the ultimate challenge can look forward to the newly revealed Titanium Difficulty, a punishing new mode aimed squarely at experienced players looking for a serious challenge. Enemies come with enhanced health, armor, and a 20% damage increase, while bosses have been rebalanced around precise, timing-based combat. To make things even harder, the Queen has cursed certain Anvils across the game world, preventing players from using them to rest or fast travel.
Alongside the new difficulty mode, New Game Plus unlocks after completing the game for the first time, allowing players to carry most of their progression, including skills, upgrades, weapons, blueprints, and unlocked skins, into a fresh run. Enemy damage scales to the player’s maximum health to keep the challenge intact. For completionists, the mode adds two new skins and 27 exclusive forge statues, each of which unlocks new weapon parts when offered the correct weapon type.
A demo for Blades of Fire is currently available on Steam, with the full Version 2.0 update rolling out as a free upgrade across all platforms, including PS5, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, starting May 14. Previously, the developers showcased the new Transmutation System coming to Blades of Fire with the 2.0 update.
