SOEDESCO is Bringing Horror Game Asylum to XBOX, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch

Publisher SOEDESCO has announced that it is bringing the PC Steam horror game Asylum to consoles including XBOX, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Asylum is a critically acclaimed horror game which was launched on PC via Steam back in 2025, and it is currently sitting with a Very Positive rating. Developed by indie studio Senscape, Asylum climbed to the top of many best horror games of 2025 lists.

Asylum spent more than 15 years in development before finally launching, with its creators opting for a slower, atmosphere-driven horror experience instead of relying on frequent jump scares. Set inside the abandoned Hanwell Mental Institute, ASYLUM follows a former patient who returns to the facility after being plagued by disturbing visions. As players explore the decaying Asylum, they’ll gradually uncover its dark history while piecing together a mystery hidden within its crumbling corridors.

The story draws inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, classic Hammer horror films, and European horror films from the 1980s, giving the game a distinctly old-school approach to psychological horror. Unlike many modern horror games that focus on constant enemy encounters and sudden scares, ASYLUM builds tension through exploration and environmental storytelling.

Players will spend roughly ten hours searching the abandoned hospital, examining rooms for clues, solving interconnected puzzles, and uncovering optional secrets that expand the narrative. Careful observation plays a major role throughout the adventure, as many of the game’s puzzles require players to pay close attention to their surroundings rather than simply following objective markers.

The game’s presentation also leans heavily into its cinematic influences. Its soundtrack takes inspiration from classic horror scores of the 1980s, particularly the work of legendary filmmaker and composer John Carpenter, helping reinforce the oppressive atmosphere that defines the experience. While jump scares are present, Senscape says they are used sparingly, with the focus instead remaining on suspense, isolation, and psychological unease.

ASYLUM is scheduled to launch later this year for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch wishlists will go live at a later date. A confirmed release date will be announced closer to its launch. The game is already available on PC via Steam.
