Developer Double Cross Studio and publisher 2P Games have announced the release date for their upcoming title, Sultan’s Game. Sultan’s Game is a dark, narrative-driven card-based RPG, and it is slated for release on PC via Steam on March 31, 2025. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign where the developer gathered over $275,000 in its first week of crowdfunding, the game promises an immersive and morally challenging experience where you must navigate the deadly whims of a tyrannical monarch.

In Sultan’s Game, you assume the role of a courtier forced to participate in the Sultan’s sadistic trials. Each week, you must draw from four categories of cards, each presenting a morally dubious task. The Carnality cards demand indulgence in physical pleasures, Extravagance requires reckless spending, Conquer leads to dangerous expeditions, while Bloodshed calls for human sacrifice. Failing to complete these challenges within seven days results in fatal consequences.

The game’s world is richly detailed, featuring diverse locations such as shadowy alleyways, brothels, religious temples, and the Sultan’s opulent palace. Throughout their journey, you will encounter wild beasts, supernatural entities, and political intrigue. Success requires strategic resource management, including collecting Gold, Convictions, and Nobles, all essential to influence the royal court and manipulate the kingdom’s citizens.

You can enhance your abilities by gaining intelligence, acquiring powerful equipment, and forming alliances through quests. As the game progresses, what begins as a struggle for survival can evolve into a quest for power. The courtier may exploit rivals to satisfy the Sultan’s cruel demands or use the challenges to turn enemies into allies. However, maintaining a delicate balance is crucial, as pushing moral extremes can alienate even the most loyal supporters.

Inspired by the classic tales of One Thousand and One Nights, the game offers a richly woven narrative with multiple endings. Your choices determine your ultimate fate—whether you become the Sultan’s loyal servant, orchestrate his assassination, seek to create a utopia, or summon ancient dark gods to bring about the kingdom’s destruction. The game’s hand-drawn, baroque art style further enhances the atmosphere, evoking the grandeur and cruelty of a medieval court.

Yin Li, Producer and Developer at Double Cross Studio, comments:
