3DRealms, Saber Interactive’s publishing label, alongside developer Anshar Studios, has released the latest Painkiller trailer. Titled ‘ Weapons Trailer’, the trailer shows intense gore and demon slaughter in Painkiller as the player rips through hordes of demons using a variety of explosive weaponry. We get a front-row seat at the wide range of destructive weaponry coming to the Painkiller, including some weapons inspired by the franchise’s origins. Check out the new Weapons Trailer for Painkiller below to see these weapons in action:
As you can see in the trailer above, you will be using some crazy weapons to mow down the enemies. The game will feature seven unique weapons, which will help you break bones and rip flesh off anything that comes in your way. Each weapon will have a primary fire mode and a secondary fire mode, giving you multiple ways to kill demons with the same weapon. Different elemental effects are also part of some weapons, including fire, ice, electro, and kinetic. You can upgrade these weapons further with different abilities to gain different bonus effects as well.
The complete list of weapons coming to Painkiller includes:
- Electrodriver: Barrage enemies with rapid-firing shurikens that bounce off hard surfaces
- Stakegun: Hurls high-damage stakes that can impale foes from long range
- SMG: Unleashes loads of ammo in short, rapid-fire bursts
- Handcannon: Decimate enemies from long range with deadly precision
- Shotgun: Spits destructive pellets at short range that can damage and stagger multiple foes
- Rocket Launcher: Discharges a rocket projectile with a devastating blast radius that can stagger even heavy enemies
- The titular Painkiller, a versatile weapon with a brutal melee attack that hooks onto enemies and shreds them into pieces while refilling your ammo
Each of these weapons is a force to reckon with, and we cannot wait to use them when Painkiller comes out. The upcoming Painkiller is a modern reimagining of the classic action-shooter set in Purgatory. You have been sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven, but the voice of the Creator is giving you one chance to redeem yourself using some really brutal weapons.
To gain the favor, you must blast through hordes of demons in brutal, fast-paced combat with an array of infernal weapons. You will battle across gruesome gothic environments while trying to stop the fallen angel Azazel’s invasion of Earth and earn your salvation. The game offers both solo gameplay as well as online co-op for up to three other players.
Key features of Painkiller include:
- Purgatory Is Your Playground: Jump, hook, and dash across vast, spine-chilling biomes while fighting nightmarish enemies in bloody, fast-paced combat with a host of new and classic Painkiller weapons.
- Grotesque Terrors Await: Challenge a variety of horrifying foes, from hordes of demons to titanic terrors like the monstrous children of Azazel – the Nephilim.
- Unleash The Pain: Use tarot cards to upgrade your abilities, rank up to expand your arsenal, and team up with other players to obliterate all foes.
- Choose Your Character Wisely: Play as one of four distinctive characters – Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch – with unique perks to boost your energy, health, power, and damage.
- Three-Player Online Co-op & Solo Action: Play online with up to two friends or offline with bots, exploring diverse locations, uncovering secrets, and facing off against terrifying enemies.
Painkiller is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in the fall of 2025. Wishlists are now live across all platforms, and additional details about the game will be announced in the coming months leading up to its release.
