Ghost Pattern has just launched its lovingly crafted simultaneously-told narrative adventure, Wayward Strand, on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The inaugural game from the Australian indie-studio is inspired by interactive theater characters and their stories, playing out in real-time where it is up to you to choose what characters to talk to or what stories to follow:

The game’s launch trailer was also released with the announcement:

The game is a heartfelt interactive story that is told in the most unique and curious way. You take the role of Casey Beaumaris, an intrepid teenage journalist, as she visits an airborne hospital for the first time. Uncover the airship’s mysteries, and explore the lives of its inhabitants.

On her first-ever trip, she has limited time to help the staff, get to know the patients, and investigate to find out the mysteries of the ship.

Once onboard the ship, you will meet a sizeable cast of characters who go about their lives guided by their own desires, schedules, and will. You can choose who Casey will interact with, engage directly or eavesdrop on unsuspecting workers.

There are over 20,000 lines of recorded voiceover dialogue for a plethora of interesting conversations that you can have with characters. You can follow your curiosity at any moment, and while a single playthrough is a complete experience on its own, the developers have noted that it can take at least a dozen playthroughs for players to begin seeing the full picture.

Every playthrough gives you the opportunity to discover something you didn’t see previously – what you missed the first time, you might see the second, third, or fifth time around.
