Developer and publisher Red Barrels has announced that Season 7: Project Boneyard for The Outlast Trials launches on July 14. This brand-new season will introduce a new Trial, a new enemy, gameplay improvements, and the return of Sergeant Leland Coyle.
The update takes players to the Prison Farm, a new Trial environment where Coyle oversees Murkoff’s latest experiment. The season’s main Trial, Locksock the Warden, is joined by two new MK-Challenges, Bribe the Judges and Cancel the Broadcast, expanding the game’s cooperative horror experience.
Season 7 also introduces The Biter, a new Ex-Pop enemy. Although restrained with chains and stripped of its arms, the creature remains a dangerous threat thanks to its powerful mechanical jaws and surprising speed.
Apart from new additions, the new season also comes with a major update for the game. Project Boneyard adds several quality-of-life features, including Rig Customization, Knife Customization, Loadout Presets, and Mastery Tasks. Red Barrels is also overhauling both the Escalation and Invasion modes with gameplay improvements, with more details to be shared closer to launch.
Players can also earn exclusive cosmetic rewards through a new Twitch Drops campaign running from July 14 to August 11 by watching The Outlast Trials streams of participating streamers. These rewards cannot be earned in-game through any means. Additional details on how you can unlock these rewards are available on the official FAQ post by Red Barrels.
The Outlast Trials Season 7: Project Boneyard launches as a free update for all existing players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on July 14. The Outlast Trials is currently available on PC via Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
