Marvel’s Avengers is coming out next month and just in the nick of time, Square Enix has released big news for the fans who will be playing the game on PlayStation. According to Square Enix, Spider-Man is coming to the PlayStation versions of Marvel’s Avengers, both PS4 and PS5, free of cost as a DLC character in early 2021. There were rumors before that Spider-Man will be part of the game but now Square Enix has spilled the beans and confirmed the rumors.
Announced by Jeff Adams, Associate Art Director at Crystal Dynamics, Jeff detailed his love and passion for everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and announced that the character will be arriving as part of a free character DLC for the PS4 and PS5 version of the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man. This news comes just a week after the official announcement of Hawkeye as the first official DLC character for the game. A brand new teaser trailer has also been released to announce the arrival of Hawkeye in Marvel’s Avengers.
Hawkeye is one of the main avengers in the universe and fans of the game will be glad to know that he will arrive in the game despite a little later than the actual game itself. Last week, Square Enix also announced tons of other details about the game such as its beta. It appears like Marvel’s Avengers is going to be a long-term project for the studio because post-launch DLC is always a sign that the developers want to stick with the game for a longer period of time. With the announcement of Hawkeye and Spider-Man, we can be certain that more characters from the Avengers universe will ultimately find their way into the game.

- August 7-9: PlayStation Advantage Closed BETA: The first BETA weekend will be available for those who have pre-ordered Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation 4. Pre-load will be available on August 6.
- August 14-16: PlayStation Advantage Open BETA & Xbox/PC Closed BETA: The second BETA weekend will be open to the entire PS4 community as part of our PlayStation Advantage partnership. Additionally, those of you who have pre-ordered Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox or PC will be able to jump in and play. Pre-load will be available on August 13.
- August 21: Open BETA for All: August 21 – 23 will give all fans across all platforms a chance to jump in and play the Marvel’s Avengers BETA! Pre-load will be available on August 20.
