Repterra

Publisher MicroProse has announced that Repterra, a base-building survival RTS set in a dinosaur-infested world, will launch on April 28 on Steam. The date was revealed alongside a new teaser trailer highlighting a significant visual overhaul, including improved environments, lighting, and large-scale battlefield clarity.

Dino-RTS Repterra Release Date Set for Upcoming PC Steam Release

Repterra blends traditional RTS systems with survival elements, tasking players with rebuilding human settlements on a planet overrun by prehistoric creatures. Players construct and expand fortified colonies, gather resources, and defend against continuous waves of dinosaur attacks while gradually pushing back into hostile territory. The game also introduces a unique mechanic that allows dinosaurs to be captured, bred, and integrated into human forces, adding a layer of strategy that goes beyond standard RTS unit management.

The updated teaser emphasizes the scale of combat, with large battles featuring tens of thousands of units on screen simultaneously. Alongside visual improvements, the game focuses on readability during these encounters, aiming to make large engagements more manageable while maintaining performance targets. Players can choose between three distinct factions, each offering different units, heroes, and tactical approaches, with further depth coming from hero customization systems and genetic mutation mechanics that allow units to evolve.

Set in an alternate history where dinosaurs have spread across the modern world and led to the collapse of global civilization, the game’s progression centers on reclaiming territory and establishing a sustainable foothold. A meta progression system carries upgrades across missions, encouraging repeated runs through its maps while gradually expanding strategic options.
