NVIDIA has pushed back the launch of the GeForce RTX 3070 back by two weeks and will now launch on October 29th. The announcement comes just weeks after the launch of the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards which had severely limited quantities at launch and had disastrous launch days.

NVIDIA launched the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 last month but they sold out almost immediately and cards soon appeared on eBay at highly inflated prices as a result of scalper bots. NVIDIA was forced to apologize, saying it was not prepared for the demand. The company even pre-apologized for the lack of GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs before they went on sale, but that card also sold out despite the exorbitant price.

NVIDIA has updated its webstore information and now the RTX 3070 cards will be available for sale on October 29th. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 specifications and prices remain unchanged and now the card will launch a day after AMD’S Radeon RX 6000 series reveals. NVIDIA has also released an official statement regarding the delay of the RTX 3070 cards. They said:

Production of GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards are ramping quickly. We’ve heard from many of you that there should be more cards available on launch day. To help make that happen, we are updating the availability date to Thursday, October 29th.

We know this may be disappointing to those eager to purchase a GeForce RTX 3070 as soon as possible, however this shift will help our global partners get more graphics cards into the hands of gamers on launch day.

The GeForce RTX 3070 delivers incredible performance and features, including NVIDIA Reflex and Broadcast, for $499. Across a variety of ray-traced and rasterized DirectX and Vulkan titles, the GeForce RTX 3070 delivers similar or faster performance than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (which sold for twice the price) and is on average 60% faster than the original GeForce RTX 2070.”

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 is the first desktop GA104-based model. This card will feature 5888 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR6 (non-X) memory. The GA104 is the second fastest chip in the Ampere architecture and is based on Samsung’s 8nm process node. The card was originally supposed to release on 15th October but now will be available on the 29th of October. The Founders Edition will hit retail at $499 US.
