Max Payne 1 and 2 Are Getting Remakes by Remedy Using Northlight Engine

Max Payne Remakes

Remedy has announced that it is teaming up with Rockstar Games to develop remakes of Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Both titles are currently in ‘the concept development stage’ and you will need to wait a long time before they are launched. Both titles will be released together as one package. Remedy details that it was them who went to Rockstar with the idea of the remakes.

Both remakes are being funded by Rockstar Games and their budget will be ‘in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production’. Both titles will be remade with Remedy’s Northlight Engine which was last used in Control. Rockstar Games developed the third title Max Payne 3 on their own however the first two titles were developed by Remedy and published by Rockstar Games and now Remedy is taking the charge once again to develop the two remasters.

Max Payne franchise is iconic because it features The Matrix-style slow-mo shooting sequences where you are able to jump and shoot at your enemies in style. This gives you an edge over your enemies as you can slow down time during your jumps and take them out. Max is not really a bullet sponge, so this gives you a massive edge in the game. The first Max Payne was released in 2001 while Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne was released in 2003.

Both titles were groundbreaking during their times and especially Max Payne 2 was amazing with its use of the Havok engine which was miles ahead of its time. After Max Payne 2, there was a long delay in the franchise and Rockstar Games finally released Max Payne 3 in 2012. Since then, we have had complete silence from everyone regarding the franchise until now. Additional details about the Max Payne remakes will be shared in the upcoming months.
