Hunt: Showdown has been in early access on Steam for a very long time now but the game is going to release later this week. The game will be available on PC and Xbox and will come to the PS4 later this fall. Hunt: Showdown devs talked about crossplay and modding in a recent interview and they do want to introduce crossplay sometime in the future.
The devs mentioned that as of right now modding is not planned. They would like to introduce crossplay in Hunt: Showdown. Here is what the devs had to say when asked about the feature:
We’re still investigating options. We’d like to offer cross-play at some point but it all has to make sense of course.
The devs also talked about the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Scarlett consoles. They mentioned that fast storage solutions are going to be a major game-changers. They will crush loading times and allow developers to design games with streaming in mind. Google Stadia is coming out in the upcoming few weeks so it will be interesting to see how the platform takes advantage of this change as well. Devs mentioned that the exciting part of all this is that game engines will need to evolve as well.
Devs confirmed that Hunt: Showdown will not support HDR at launch but it is a feature that they might introduce later on. Also, the game will be enhanced for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. These enhancements will be in terms of resolution and shader quality. The game will remain locked at 30 FPS. Some people might favor the better visuals but I know that there are people out there that like higher FPS.
Let us know what you think about Hunt: Showdown and whether or not you are interested in playing the game when it leaves early access.
I’ve been playing hunt for a while on and off. It’s an amazing game and a genius idea. I’d love to see cross play happen as I mainly play on pc but have console friends I’d love to hunt with.
We can expect cross-play to arrive in the game soon since the PS4 is now open for all games.
