Apple Arcade was released last week and to compete with it, Google has announced its own gaming service called Google Play Pass. Google Play Pass is launching later this week and it will cost subscribers $4.99 per month and the library will include 350 games at launch. These games are tradition Google Play Store games however all games will be their premium, versions meaning that they will be ad-free.
Google is also offering a 12-month subscription offer for $1.99 per month if someone wants to purchase the subscription for an entire year. Google has announced that Google Play Pass will make its debut in USA however the service will later reveal in other countries as well. However, we are expecting that the service will gradually expand to the entire world. At the start, select countries will receive the service and Google will probably look at fan response before further expansion.
Anyone who wants to subscribe to Google Play Plus can simply head to Google Play Store and download the service client from there. After the subscription is purchased, Apps within the service will get a little badge showing that the app is included in the service. Similar to Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass also supports family sharing. A single subscription can be shared with five additional family members.
Google also released a trailer for the service and you can check it out below.
Google will continue to add more games and apps every month to the service however the launch lineup is pretty decent as well. Players will be able to jump in games like Limbo, Star Wars: Knights of Old Republic, Stardew Valley, Terraria and Apps like Photo Studio Pro, ISS HD Live: View Earth Live and CamToPlan.
Google Play Pass is all set to tackle Apple Arcade however Apple Arcade has some exclusive titles such as LEGO Brawls which might give the service a little upper hand at Google’s service. Google will need to dive in the ocean of exclusives as well if they really want to take on Apple Arcade.
