Gearbox Releasing UHD Texture Packs for Three Borderlands Titles

Borderlands UHD Texture Packs

Gearbox has announced that it is releasing UHD Texture Packs for three Borderlands titles. This was announced by the developer during its PAX East presentation today. The three titles included in this list are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2.

The UHD Texture Pack will be handed out to all players who own the game free of cost. All new and existing owners of any of the three titles will receive them regardless of the platform. The UHD Texture pack will arrive on PC, Xbox One X, and PS4 Pro. Players can simply head to their respective stores to download the free texture packs.

On PS4 Pro, the free texture pack will appear in the DLC section of the Borderlands title they want to download the pack for. Xbox One X and PC players can simply head to the DLC section of their respective store and download the free packs there once they are released. The texture packs once installed will automatically improve the game’s visual and players do not need to tinker will anything to make them work.

Console UHD Texture Pack Details:

  • 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro players
  • Remastered 4K environment textures, including geometry and skyboxes
  • Remastered 4K characters and vehicles
  • Updated weapon meshes and textures
  • Re-encoded 4K Cinematics
  • Improved Anti-Aliasing, including improved edge line implementation
    • This includes improved ink line definition and framing/outline around character models
  • Higher Resolution Dynamic Shadows
    • Improved quality and smoothness of shadows, especially during movement

PC UHD Texture Pack Details:

  • Remastered 4K environment textures, including geometry and skyboxes
  • Remastered 4K characters and vehicles
  • Remastered 4K weapon meshes and textures
  • Improved Anti-Aliasing, including improved edge line implementation
    • This includes improved ink line definition and framing/outline around character models
  • Higher Resolution Dynamic Shadows
    • Improved quality and smoothness of shadows, especially during movement
  • Improved Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
    • An improved SSAO method for more realistic ambient lighting

The UHD Texture Packs for both PC and consoles will be released next week on all three platforms free of cost. Don’t forget to download them on April 3, 2019.
