A new commercial released by Nintendo has hinted that Final Fantasy VII is coming soon on Nintendo Switch. The new commercial is focused on Nintendo Switch but the console shows the game in full action while the video description states ‘Final Fantasy VII coming soon!’.
Nintendo Switch is attracting nearly every developers’ attention to itself and it is only normal for Square Enix to notice it as well. Square Enix announced last year in September that a number of Final Fantasy games are heading to Nintendo Switch which included Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
When it was initially announced, Square Enix only mentioned that the titles will be released on the console in 2019. The new console commercial however mentions that Final Fantasy VII is coming soon so it means that the first title on Switch is dropping sooner than we expected. Other than this commercial description, Nintendo or Square Enix have not revealed any information about a possible release date.
Final Fantasy VII was released back originally in 1997 and then was later ported to PS4 and PC in 2013. Now a Nintendo Switch port is on the way and hopefully is not too far away as the new commercial reveals. Final Fantasy VII will be followed by many other Final Fantasy titles heading to Nintendo Switch as well.
Coming to the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy VII is the seventh title in the franchise if you consider only the main titles in the franchise. In the title, you step in the shoes of Cloud Strife and battle the megacorporation which is hell bent on using the planet’s resources as an energy source.
It was a really good title in the franchise and now players will be able to try it out on their portable console as well when it comes out on Nintendo Switch. If you have not played the earlier titles released in the franchise back then, now is the best chance to explore them on modern consoles.
