The latest company to announce that it will be skipping E3 this year is EA which is the publisher of franchises such as FIFA, Battlefield and Star Wars. Instead of a full fledge conference on E3, EA has announced that they will host EA Play and give important updates via livestreams.
This makes EA the second company to skip E3 this year after Sony. Although this does come as a surprise because EA normally announces a lot of titles during their E3 conference every year and this year we were looking forward to the next Need for Speed and Plants vs Zombies game. Apart from these two titles, EA is also planning to release Respawns’s Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.
With E3 now out of question, EA will most probably release updates on the titles and its future plans during the announced EA Play event which is EA’s pre-E3 fan event. EA plans to hold livestreams during this event which will probably give us information about their 2019 releases for fall and probably next year titles as well.
E3 is one of the biggest video game events in the entire year and nearly every company has big plans for the event. We have seen some of the biggest announcements and releases on the stages of E3 and some of the worst ones as well. Last year EA has a lot to show about Anthem and Battlefield 5 but sadly both of them failed to meet fan expectation.
Sony had earlier announced that they will not be a part of E3 this year as well and now EA is also out of the event. There are still a lot of studios coming to E3. CD Projekt Red recently announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be there at E3 this year. Xbox also plans to hold its conference during E3 just like every year.
There is still plenty of time in E3 2019 and we do not have a complete confirmed roster of all studios who will be present at E3 2019. Do not be surprised if more studios decide to skip the event in the coming days as well.
These days most of the studios hold their own special announcements anyway so if they skip E3, they will most probably hold their own event to announce their titles and other updates. We now have two confirmed names that will not be present at E3 this year which are EA and Sony.
