Arizona Sunshine Reveals New Gameplay, Co-Op and Buddy the Dog

Arizona Sunshine Gameplay

Vertigo Games has revealed new gameplay from Arizona Sunshine, showcasing the upcoming third-person zombie shooter’s combat, multiplayer features, and a rather unconventional playable character: Buddy the dog. The studio also announced a community challenge tied to the game’s wishlist milestones ahead of its release later this year.

The new trailer is presented by Sky Soleil, the voice of Sunny, the game’s protagonist. It offers a closer look at Sunny’s journey through the zombie-infested Arizona desert, where he faces hordes of undead known as “Freds” while relying on firearms, melee weapons, and his survival instincts.

The shift to a third-person perspective is one of the notable changes highlighted in the footage. Combat combines shooting with close-range melee attacks, while the game retains the dark humor associated with the Arizona Sunshine series. Sunny won’t have to survive the apocalypse alone. Arizona Sunshine supports two-player multiplayer through both online co-op and local split-screen play. Players can also take control of Buddy during multiplayer sessions, giving them a different way to interact with the environment and assist Sunny.

Buddy can help uncover secrets and attack the undead, making the dog more than a simple companion character. The ability to play as him also adds another gameplay element to the game’s cooperative experience. Alongside the gameplay reveal, Vertigo Games has introduced a community challenge based on the number of players who wishlist the game. The challenge includes four milestones, with each milestone unlocking a free skin for the community.

The first reward is a Tactical K-9 Unit outfit for Sunny. The other three skins have not yet been revealed and will become available as the community reaches the remaining milestones.
