TRAILMARK Games has announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants – Ninja Edition, an expanded version of the arcade beat ’em up coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2. The game will launch digitally on September 4, followed by a physical release on October 9.
The Ninja Edition expands the existing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants experience with two additional playable characters. For the first time, players can take control of Master Splinter and Casey Jones, alongside Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo. The new characters can be used in solo play or local cooperative sessions.
The Switch 2 version also brings a series of technical improvements. It will support 1080p resolution in handheld mode and up to 4K when docked, alongside a 60 FPS target, HDR support, and faster loading. Visual improvements include enhanced lighting, dynamic shadows, reflection effects, and improved anti-aliasing.
The game itself is based on the 2012 TMNT animated series and follows the four Turtles as they battle the Foot Clan and Shredder across locations including Coney Island and Dimension X. Its gameplay draws from classic arcade beat ’em ups such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.
The expanded arcade campaign includes six stages and 13 boss battles. Three of the stages and six of the boss encounters were not part of the original arcade release, giving the game a larger campaign than its initial version.
Each of the four Turtles also has unique super attacks for dealing with groups of enemies. Players can collect tokens during stages to summon mutant allies, adding another tool for clearing waves of opponents.
Local multiplayer remains a major part of the experience, with support for up to four players playing together on the same system. The expanded roster should give local co-op groups more options when choosing their characters.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is developed by Cradle Games and Raw Thrills. It will launch digitally on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4 for $29.99, with the physical edition arriving on October 9.
