In this Days Gone Guide, we will share some important tips and tricks with you that will help you play Days Gone effectively. Days Gone will teach you all the basics for playing the game at the start; however, some of the important tips and tricks that come in handy in various situations are still unknown since the game does not tell you that.
We have curated this Days Gone Guide in which we have collected all such tips and tricks that are super helpful in Days Gone, and you will want to learn these in order to make certain aspects of the game much easier. Days Gone has a huge world and an even bigger main story, so you would need all the tips and tricks you could to play the game and enjoy it the right way.
Guide – Days Gone
Our Days Gone Guide details everything that you need to know about playing Days Gone, along with some helpful tips and tricks.
Clear Out Infestations and Ambush Locations ASAP
To make your life easier in Days Gone, you should focus on clearing the Infestation sites and Ambush locations in the game as soon as possible. They will prevent you from using fast travel to your desired locations if there are infestations or ambush locations along the way. You must get rid of them both as quickly as possible. Check out our Days Gone Infestation Sites Locations Guide and Ambush Locations Guide to find their locations and clear them out asap.
Upgrade Your Bike’s Speed and Gas Tank
Your bike is your key to survival in Days Gone. You must focus on upgrading your bike early in the game because your bike will come in handy in nearly all scenarios in the game. To start with bike upgrades, upgrade Speed and Gas Tank first. Speed will help you move around and reach your destinations much quickly, whereas a bigger Gas Tank will allow fewer gas stops.
Upgrade Deacon’s Stamina
Just like your bike, you should upgrade Deacon’s stamina as well because he will need the stamina to run away from Freakers when he is not on a bike. You can upgrade Deacon’s core stats every time you find NERO injectors in the world. Keep a balance between your stats, but focus more on your stamina because it is one of the most important stats to improve first in the game.
Loot Cars for Scraps
Scraps are required for multiple things in Days Gone, especially for fixing your weapons and bike. You can find scraps from different stray vehicles parked here and there in the game. Open their hood or pop the trunk to find some scrap in every vehicle that you see. Make sure that you always keep some spare scrap in your inventory for emergency use.
Do not approach cars whose hood or trunk is already open, as they won’t give you any scrap. Also, watch out for red lights blinking in cars. These are alarms and will go off if you start looting scrap from them, attracting nearby Freakers.
Keep an Eye out for the Bike’s Fuel
Your bike requires fuel in Days Gone, and considering how big the map is, you will need a lot of fuel. There are different sources of fuel, and you can check out our Days Gone Fuel Guide for more details on that. Never run your bike dry. Always keep an eye out for the fuel level. In addition, fast travel also consumes fuel, so keep that in mind when you are using fast travel. Whenever you see a fuel station or arrive at a camp, top up your bike’s tank with fuel.
Buy Better Weapons from Merchants
You can buy better weapons in Days Gone and store them in your inventory. Keep in mind that you will only store those weapons that you purchase from the Merchant. Once purchased, you can always access them later from the locker, even if you drop them somewhere in the wild. If you pick up a random weapon from a dead enemy, you will lose this weapon if you switch it with any other gun. To make sure that you always have access to better guns, buy them from the merchant.
Also, keep in mind that you must wait to progress in the main story before investing in better guns. As you progress in the game, you will unlock better weapons, which are much cheaper and better than some early game guns, which look appealing at the start. It is better to hold off on purchasing expensive weapons at the start of the game because earning credits is not easy in Days Gone.
Your Weapon’s Flash Can Blind Freakers
During night raids, you will experience the toughest form of Freakers. They are normal Freakers, but at night, they are more ferocious and will not hesitate to do anything to tear you apart. However, one little trick will save your life in many situations. When you aim at a Freaker, make sure your flashlight is on because it will blind the Freaker, and it will not charge at you. Rather, it will try to block the light by lifting its hands to its face. Use this small window to kill it quickly.
Credits are Unique for Each Camp
Unlike most open-world games, in Days Gone, your credits are unique to each camp, and you only spend credits earned for each camp in that specific camp. This is a very weird mechanic, but this is how it works in Days Gone. Before you start a mission, the details will tell you which camp the mission will give you credits for.
This also goes for Trust. Build trust for each camp, and you will unlock more purchase options at each camp, which include bike upgrades and weapons. Trust and Credits are unique for each camp, so you will need to figure out which camp is offering you better options and then start working your way to earning more credits and trust for that specific camp. You can have higher trust for different camps at the same time.
Explosives are Your Friends
The most effective weapons in Days Gone are Explosives. They will easily clear out a large number of Freakers in one single explosion. Try to keep a healthy stock of explosives with you all the time, and you can also craft some on your bike to make sure that you have enough resources to craft them on the go.
