Atari has announced that its cute dino park simulation game Parkasaurus will arrive on consoles on August 5. The console launch will bring the dinosaur management simulation to current-generation consoles, including PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and XBOX Play Anywhere, after its earlier releases on PC and Nintendo Switch.
Developed by Ontario-based Washbear Studio, Parkasaurus puts players in charge of building and running a dinosaur theme park where success depends on balancing the needs of both prehistoric creatures and paying visitors. Rather than simply placing exhibits, players must carefully design habitats that suit each dinosaur’s environmental requirements, taking into account factors such as terrain, vegetation, humidity, elevation, and the overall ecosystem.
Running a successful park also means managing employees, responding to visitor feedback, and expanding facilities with more than 80 buildable structures and decorations. Players can raise dinosaurs from eggs through adulthood, with the base game featuring 24 dinosaur species. The Sea Monsters and Prehistoric Wonders expansions add another 20 prehistoric creatures, giving players an even wider range of exhibits to create.
Beyond park construction, Parkasaurus mixes traditional management mechanics with dynamic events that can quickly disrupt carefully laid plans. Players will travel across different locations through mission-based objectives while adapting to changing seasons, severe weather, and unexpected incidents. Some events can even include eco-sabotage carried out under the cover of night, forcing players to react and keep their parks running smoothly.
Keeping dinosaurs happy is equally important. Neglecting their needs can have serious consequences, as stressed or poorly housed dinosaurs may escape their enclosures and rampage through the park, threatening guests and damaging facilities. These unpredictable moments add a layer of challenge alongside the game’s otherwise relaxed park-building gameplay.
Parkasaurus also encourages experimentation and replayability through map-specific objectives and hidden collectibles. Players who fully master each location can uncover secret rocket ship parts and tackle additional challenges beyond simply maintaining a profitable park.
Probably the best aspect of the game is its visuals because it adopts a colorful toy-box-inspired art style that contrasts its lighthearted presentation with the occasional chaos caused by escaped dinosaurs. The combination of detailed habitat customization, accessible management systems, and unexpected disasters has helped Parkasaurus establish itself as a distinctive take on the management simulation genre since its original release.
Parkasaurus launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Play Anywhere on August 5, joining its existing availability on PC and Nintendo Switch. The console release includes support for the game’s dinosaur park management experience, and the Sea Monsters and Prehistoric Wonders DLC expansions as well.
