505 Games and Supernova Games Studios, in technical partnership with KUNOS Simulazioni, have announced that Assetto Corsa Rally has been selected by the FIA as the exclusive platform for the new FIA Esports Global Rally Tour. The competition marks one of the governing body’s largest dedicated rally esports initiatives to date and is designed to create a structured international championship for sim racers worldwide.

The new series expands the FIA’s esports focus beyond circuit racing and into rally competition, reflecting the growing role of simulation racing in the wider motorsport ecosystem. While FIA-backed esports events have traditionally centered around track racing disciplines, the Global Rally Tour introduces a full competitive pathway for rally drivers, with online qualifiers, regional finals, and a live world championship staged alongside the FIA Awards later this year.

Qualifying for the FIA Global eSports Rally Tour begins on May 12 through a global online competition hosted entirely within Assetto Corsa Rally. A total of 56 drivers will advance from this stage, including 16 competitors from Europe and eight each from MENA, North America, South America, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. These players will then move into regional shootouts built around quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, with the Asia-Pacific event taking place June 23 during the FIA Conference in Macau and the European round scheduled for October 16–18 during the SimRacing Expo in Frankfurt.

From these regional stages, the top 16 drivers will qualify for the FIA Esports Global Rally Tour Finals during FIA Awards Week in Shanghai this December. The championship concludes on December 12, when the top two finalists will compete live on stage during the FIA Awards Ceremony in a head-to-head grand final, placing sim racers directly alongside world champions from FIA-sanctioned motorsport categories.

The decision is a major milestone for Assetto Corsa Rally, which is currently still in Steam Early Access. Developed as the newest entry in the long-running Assetto Corsa franchise, the game brings the series’ established focus on realistic driving physics to rally racing, where surface changes, visibility, and car control create a very different challenge from circuit simulation. Since the original Assetto Corsa became one of sim racing’s most respected PC racing titles, the franchise has expanded through Assetto Corsa Competizione and now into dedicated rally competition with ACR.

Its current Early Access phase has focused on building credibility within the rally sim space, and FIA selection gives the title significant visibility before full release. The studio says the partnership reinforces the game’s standing as one of the leading modern rally simulation platforms despite still being in development.
