Indie developer Quail Button has unveiled its quirky comedy point-and-click adventure, A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe. This delightful oddball game poses an unusual challenge: can you guide the Giraffe through a week in the Friendliest City in the World without engaging in a single conversation?
The game introduces you to Giraffe, an introvert who finds joy in life’s quiet pleasures—listening to lo-fi music, sipping matcha, caring for succulent plants, and crafting haikus. However, Giraffe faces a peculiar predicament: his overwhelming social anxiety causes his head to literally explode if he interacts with anyone. This is no easy feat in Friendly City, where neighbors thrive on small talk and relentlessly seek help with their problems.
Check out the Announcement Trailer for A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe:
You will navigate Giraffe’s daily routines, from mundane tasks like grocery shopping and visiting the gym to exploring antique stores and doing laundry. The goal? Dodge the city’s cheerful, overly chatty residents at every turn. Using a blend of stealth mechanics and classic point-and-click puzzle-solving, you must ensure that Giraffe’s week unfolds without a single social mishap.
Quail Button’s writer and level designer of the game explains: “With A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe, we wanted to explore the conflict between craving solitude and the human desire for connection. Even the most outgoing people experience moments of shyness. In many ways, there’s a little of Asocial Giraffe in all of us.”
The game promises a unique blend of humor, tension, and charm, offering you a highly relatable experience. For those who dread small talk or have ever gone to great lengths to avoid a chatty neighbor, Asocial Giraffe will feel like a whimsical, exaggerated reflection of real life. The visual style is equally distinct, drawing inspiration from the vibrant animation of 1950s cartoons. Featuring hand-drawn, frame-by-frame animations and a soothing lo-fi soundtrack, the game creates a cozy yet comedic atmosphere that complements Giraffe’s misadventures.
Key features of the game include a chore-filled week of levels combining stealth gameplay with point-and-click logic, a whimsical story centered on avoiding social interaction, and a richly detailed world brought to life through unique visual storytelling.
A Steam page for A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe is now live and you can add the game to your wishlist right now. At this moment, we only know of a PC Steam release with a 2025 release window. Additional information about the game will be announced later.
