In this Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Prayer Bead Locations Guide, we will show you where you can find all the Prayer Beads in the game. Prayer Beads are used to level up your Vitality and Posture stats, which is essentially your health and defense.

Collecting four Prayer Beads can be used to make them into a Prayer Necklace from any idol checkpoint. This is where you can increase your player stats. Fully upgrading your players Vitality and Posture will unlock the “Peak Physical Strength” trophy /achievement.

Most of these items are found by defeating enemies like bosses and mini bosses. Its best to read our Boss Guide to defeat each enemy in the game, and to get your hands on the Prayer Bead.

Below we have listed all the locations where you can find the Prayer Beads in the game.

Prayer Bead #1

This item is rewarded after you defeat the General Naomori Kawarada. This is a mini-boss that can be found on the Outskirsts Wall – Gate Path. From the idol or fast travel point, head into the next courtyard where you will have to fight this enemy if you want the Prayer Bead.

Don’t forget to take on of his lives so you can make this battle easier for yourself. Block and attack to break his posture to take him down for the second time.

Prayer Bead #2

This bead can be found on the Outskirts Wall – Stairway where it will be dropped by the Chained Ogre mini-boss that you fight. This enemy comes right after the Stairway idol of fast travel.

Prayer Bead #3

This bead can be found by defeating General Tenzen Yamauchi mini-boss. This enemy is found right after the Chained Ogre boss you fought previously. Its best to take out the smaller enemies and then sneaking up behind him to take on of his lives before you begin the actual battle.

Prayer Bead #4

This bead can be found in the Ashina Outskirts – Ashina Castle Gate, where it can be collected up the stairs in the battle area where you fought the main boss Gyoubu Oniwa.

From the stairs the oath will lead you to a building with a samurai wanting to talk to you. Do not talk to him for now, and grapple up to the wooden beams. When you reach the top beams, double jump at them to reach the attic.

In the attic will be a golden chest that contains the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #5

This bead is found in the same area of the Ashina Castle Gate where you have to fight the Blazing Bull. The Prayer bead is dropped by the Bull and can be collected after you defeat this mini-boss.

Prayer Bead #6

This bead can be found in the Hirata Estate on the Estate Path. It will be dropped by the Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen mini-boss.

Hirata Estate is unlock after you talk to an old woman in a destroyed house found between Outskirts Wall – Gate Path and Outskirts Wall – Stairway. She will give you a bell that can be used at the altar where the Sculptor is.

Once you reach this area, you have to fight this enemy who will be in a white robe and holding a spear. Sneak around, take one of his lives and then begin the battle. The defeated enemy will drop the Prayer Bead for you.

Prayer Bead # 7

This bead is found in the Hirata Estate – Main Hall where it is dropped by the Juzou the Drunkard mini-boss. Go back to the bridge where you had to defeat the two shield enemies, just before the fight with Shinobi Hunter. Jump down into the river, and swim upriver until you spot a branch on your left that you can grapple on to.

Now follow this new path until you reach an area where you need to wall jump a well and reach burning mansions. This is the area where you will encounter the boss. Defeat Juzou and collect the Prayer Bead dropped by him.

Prayer Bead #8

This bead can be found in the building that is behind Juzou. When you enter the building, it will be on the left side where the two guards are patrolling, you can lean against a wall with a banner on it. This will open a hidden wall passage where a big room behind will contain a chest. The prayer bead is inside this chest.

Prayer Bead # 9

This bead is dropped by the General Kuranosuke Matsumoto, in the Ashina Castle. he can be found after defeating the Blazing Bull. Once you have defeated the bull, head on upstairs straight ahead from you. Up top you will find 4 riflemen along with General Kuranosuke Matsumoto.

The best way to fight this boss, is to first deal with the other smaller enemies around the General. Kill all the 4 riflemen and then run back so that the General loses sight of you. Then your focus should be to sneak up behind the General to take one life away from him.

Once defeated, you can collect the Prayer Bead from the General.

Prayer Bead #10

This bead is dropped by the Seven Achina Spears – Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi who can also be found in the Ashina Castle. Once you enter the Ashina Castle, turn left and climb the wall that will have a long drop down below. Your destination is the area across that you can reach by grappling to a tree branch.

Once you reach across, kill a small enemy to the left, and then go to the right towards the temple. In order to make things easier for you, you have to take down one life from this boss. You can do this by sneaking behind him by taking the left secret path behind the temple, and through a hole in the wall of the temple. Its best to keep out of sight from other enemies or they will chase after you.

This will place you right behind the boss allowing you to take down one of his life. after the battle, and when you have defeated this enemy, you can collect the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #11

This bead can be found after defeating the Lone Shadow Longswordsman mini-boss. This boss can be found in the Ashina Castle, at the Ashina Reservoir fast travel. When you enter the Ashina Castle, take the path to your left, open a gate and drop down. You should find the Reservoir idol here. From the idol you need to jump across to the branches on your left, and land on an enemy camp

There will be two enemies here, a drummer and a rifleman. Behind the drummer will be a cliff that you need to head towards, and then look to the right where you can grapple on to a point across the abyss. This will bring you to an area with a friendly samurai standing above a hole. The boss will be in the area inside this hole.

Once you have defeated this boss, you will receive the Scrap Magnetite and Prayer Bead as rewards.

Prayer Bead #12

This bead can be found in the Abandoned Dungeon Entrance where it can be bought from a merchant for 1400 money. He can be found sitting in a tent next to the Abandoned Dungeon Entrance idol or fast travel.

To reach the dungeon though, you need to go to the entrance of the Ashina Castle. And jump off the left side of the Ashina Castle Idol. You can grapple from this left side of the bridge and find two enemies on another wooden bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path straight until you reach the dungeon.

Prayer Bead #13

This bead can be found in the Upper Tower – Ashina Dojo after you fight and feat the Jinsuke Saze mini-boss. You can fast travel from the Ashina Castle idol and then take the path on the right to jump on the roofs. Follow these roofs to enter a tall tower in the middle of the area.

Once you are inside, you will find some samurais in blue robes. In a room of the second floor on the right,  that you can grapple through a hole in the ceiling. From there you can follow the path upstairs to reach the Ashina Dojo at the top of the tower.

When you have defeated this enemy, he will drop the Prayer Bead for you to collect.

Prayer Bead #14

This bead can be found after you defeat the Armored Warrior boss. This boss can be found at the Senpou Temple – Shugendo where he will be after the second idol in Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo where you will automatically reach this boss.

To defeat him you have to deplete his posture, and then knock him down the bridge.

Prayer Bead #15

This bead can be found at the Senpou Temple at the Temple Grounds. It is dropped by the Long-arm Gentipede Sen’un mini-boss when you defeat him.

This enemy can be found after the third idol in Senpou temple region, where you have to follow the path with the wolves and the monks throwing bombs towards you. Climb up the temple roofs, then drop down the right side of the temple roofs to a lower temple. Through this rooftop you can enter a dark chamber where you have to fight this boss.

Prayer Bead #16

This bead can be found from the first idol in Sunken Valley. From this fast travel point you need to go up around the hill slightly and jump across the ledge on to a tree stump. There will be two enemies here that you have to kill.

Now you have to double jump on the wall next to them, around the ledge to the other side. Drop down to find the Prayer Bead in the snow.

Prayer Bead #17

This bead can be found after defeating the Snake Eyes Shirafuji mini-boss. From the second idol in Sunken Valley region, you need to drop down the cliff by the idol, and then hang onto the trees as you fall down. This is where you get to fight this enemy, and also collect the Prayer Bead after the battle.

Prayer Bead #18

This item can be found after you defeat the Long-arm Gentipede Giraffe mini-boss. The battle takes place in the next room after the Gun Fort idol in Sunken Valley.

Prayer Bead #19

This bead can be found in the Gun Fort of the Sunken Valley. After fighting the Gentipede Giraffe, you can drop down the hole in the same room then crouch in the underground section.

Head outside the tunnel and from here you will find more grapple points to the right. Follow the dark cave all the way until you reach the end, with a few small enemies and poison geckos. The Prayer Bead can be found right beside the enemies.

Prayer Bead #20

This item can be found in the Sunken Valley Gun Fort, where it is dropped after you defeat the Long-arm Gentipede Giraffe Mini-boss. The enemy is located in the next room after the Gun Fort idol.

Prayer Bead #21

This item can be found in the same Gun Fort region of the Sunken Valley, where it can be found in the open, after you defeat the Long-Arm Gentipede Giraffe.

After the boss fight, jump down the hole that is in the same room where the fight ensued.. then crouch through an underground section and head out to the left side of this tunnel. From here you need to hang on to the grappler points on the right, followed by more grappling points to the right. Follow the dark cave all the way until you reach the end, where a few small enemies are. The Prayer Bead is the golden orb item that you can pick up near the enemies.

Prayer Bead #22

This item can be found in the Ashina Depths idol, and is dropped by the Snake Eyes Shirahagi boss. This boss can be found right after the Ashina Depths idol, when you come to the Ashina Reservoir idol. From this point you need to jump across to the left towards the tree branches.

Here you will find two enemies and behind will be a cliff and a grapple to the other side. Here you will also encounter the Lone Shadow Longswordsman boss, followed by a well that takes you to a dark cave. At the end of the cave you will reach Ashina Depths.

Prayer Bead #23

This item can be found in the Poison Pool of Ashina Depths, from the tunnel that is behind the Snake Eyes Shirahagi boss. You can grapple up to the left side, where it will let you reach to a tall statue in the poison pool. On top of this statue, will be the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #24

This Prayer Bead can be found in the Hidden Forest of Ashina Depths, where it is dropped by the Tokujiro the Glutton mini-boss. He can be found on your way to the temple where you can hear someone play the flute. Just as you enter the foggy area with the ghost enemies, grapple on to some tree branch to the left and there you will find this mini-boss.

Prayer Bead #25

This Prayer Bead can be found at the Watermill of the Ashina Depths, where it is dropped by O’rin of the Water mini-boss. You can face this boss after the Watermill idol or fast travel point, and hear this boss playing the flute. Once you walk past her, she will begin the battle. Once defeated, she will drop the Prayer Bead for you to collect.

Prayer Bead #26

This Prayer Bead is collected in the open world and on the path from the Watermill idol towards the Corrupted Monk boss. Here you will come across a building with a few enemies gathered in front of it. Crouch under this building on the right side, and open a floor panel to enter. In the attic at the small shrine will be this Prayer Bead waiting to be collected.

Prayer Bead #27

This Prayer Bead can be found at the Mibu Village of the Ashina Depths region. It is found in the open world where it is on the right side of the Mibu Village. There is a lake here, where you can jump in and dive down. Right at the bottom of the lake will be a glowing chest that contains this Prayer Bead.

You have to learn the diving skill after defeating the Corrupted Monk at the very end of Ashina Depths. This means you have to head back to this location after the boss fight in order to collect the bead.

Prayer Bead #28

This Prayer Bead can be found in the Mibu Manor of the Fountainhead Palace. It is dropped by the Sakura Bull mini-boss. This boss is found after going through the courtyard where some enemies will try to curse you, exit the building and turn around to grapple to the rooftops. Behind those buildings will be the purple colored bull.

Prayer Bead #29

This Prayer Bead can be found from the Great Sakura idol in Fountainhead Palace. It is dropped by the Okami Leader Shizu mini-boss. This is the boss that throws lightning towards you, and is required to beat to progress in the main path.

Prayer Bead #30

This Prayer Bead can be found in the open world and after defeating the Okami Leader Shizu mini-boss. Jump in the big lake and you can find a chest underwater on the right side of this lake. The chest will contain the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #31 and #32

This Prayer Bead can be found only after playing the end game content. It can be found in the Ashina Depths – Poison Pool, where it is dropped by the Undying Guardian Ape boss, in the big hall between the Poison Pool and Hidden Forest idols.

This is the fight with the Headless undying ape that is accompanied by another ape that fights against you. Defeat the Ape, and then execute it again. this is when you reach out and pull a centipede from within the ape to execute it again. this will reward you with 2 Prayer Beads.

Prayer Bead #33

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content. It is found in the Upper Tower Dojo in the Ashina Castle, where it  is dropped by the Lone Shadow Vilehand mini-boss. When you are on your way back to Kuro’s Room, this boss is found in the same room where you fought the Ashina Elite Jinsuke Saze mini-boss.

Prayer Bead #34

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content. It is found in the Upper Tower Antechamber of the Ashina Castle, where it is dropped by the Chained Ogre mini-boss. From the Antechamber idol or fast travel point, you need to jump down the inside of the tower, where the Chained Ogre is located at the bottom. Once you have defeated the boss, the Prayer Bead can be collected.

Prayer Bead #35

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content.. it can be found in the Great Serpent Shrine of the Ashina Castle, where it is dropped by Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer mini-boss. To reach this boss, you need to go the Old Grave idol or fast travel, and find him near the Great Serpent Shrine idol.

Prayer Bead # 36

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content. It can be found in the Ashina Reservoir of the Ashina Castle. It is dropped by Shume Masaji Oniwa mini-boss.

The area goes up in flames after the story. And right in front of the Ashina Reservoir idol will be this new boss. Once you have defeated this boss, the Prayer Bead will be rewarded to you.

Prayer Bead # 37

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content. It is found in the Ashina Castle – Old Grave, where it is dropped by Shigekichi of the Red Guard mini-boss. From the Old Grave idol, you need to walk downstairs towards a bridge that takes you to the other side.

This boss will be waiting for you in a courtyard, and the Prayer Bead is rewarded to you after defeating the boss.

Prayer #38

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and playing the end game content. It can be found in the Upper Tower Dojo of the Ashina Castle, where it is dropped by Ujinari Mizou mini-boss.

From the Upper Tower Dojo idol, you need to walk downstairs and then turn around. Behind the stairs will be a paper wall that you can go through, leading to a secret passage to this boss. Defeat the boss to get the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #39

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and choosing the Purification ending of the game. It is found in the Hirata Estate, Bamboo Thicket Slope, where it is dropped by the Lone shadow Masanage the Spear-Bearer mini-boss.

This boss spawns when you get the key from the Owl in the first visit to Hirata Estate, in the burning building after Bamboo Thicket Slope idol. Once defeated, you will be rewarded with the Prayer Bead.

Prayer Bead #40

This Prayer Bead can be found after finishing the game and choosing the Purification ending of the game. It is found in the Main Hall of the Hirata Estate, where it is dropped by Juzou the Drunkard mini-boss.

This boss in this choice of ending spawns in the same location where you previously fought him, in the first visit to Hirata Estate. Once you have defeated this mini-boss, he will drop the Prayer Bead.
