CD PROJEKT RED has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, bringing a range of visual, performance, and gameplay enhancements to the acclaimed RPG. The announcement was made during gamescom Opening Night Live, alongside the first look at the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, while Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a native version of the game for the first time. Pre-orders are already available on select platforms.
The remastered edition will introduce upgrades across several aspects of the game, including improved visuals and performance, enhanced combat, refined traversal and movement, and revamped mount handling. Monster behavior is also being improved, while new Witcher Sign effects, a revamped skill tree, transmogrification, an expanded Photo Mode, and new finishers will add further options for players.
The announcement also revealed the first details about Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The expansion will take Geralt to Letten, a new region described as an idyllic land shaped by rural traditions, folklore, harvests, and festivals. Beneath the region’s peaceful appearance, however, lies a darker secret that Geralt will have to uncover while facing previously unseen enemies and an ancient evil.
Songs of the Past is being co-developed by Fool’s Theory, whose leadership includes veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3. Players can wishlist the expansion on select platforms ahead of its 2027 release. CD PROJEKT RED is also preparing guided presentations of both Songs of the Past and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered throughout gamescom, with additional REDstream presentations planned for viewers following the event remotely.
As part of the announcement, existing owners of The Witcher 3 will also gain access to the game’s original expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, at no additional cost. The expansions will allow players to revisit Geralt’s adventures before the remastered edition arrives.
The remastered game is being co-developed with Yigsoft, a team that has previously worked on The Witcher 3. CD PROJEKT RED has also announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to bring both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. Players who purchase the expansion through Blizzard’s platform will receive a special Geralt-inspired skin for Diablo 4, with additional details expected at BlizzCon in September.
