Publisher Dotemu and developer Triskell Interactive have released a new gameplay trailer for Theos: Cities of Myth, offering a detailed look at the upcoming city-building and management game set in a myth-inspired version of Ancient Greece. The game puts players in charge of settlements built in tribute to one of seven Olympian gods, combining traditional city-building systems with new mechanics designed to give players greater control over their cities.

Every settlement in Theos: Cities of Myth begins with a Sanctuary, which serves as the seat of the chosen god and the central point around which the city develops. From there, players will manage supply and distribution chains while balancing the needs of their population. Food, housing, culture and entertainment are among the basic requirements that must be maintained, but keeping citizens satisfied is only part of the challenge.

The gods themselves have their own demands. Players will need to fulfill the desires of deities such as Ares and Athena to earn blessings and other benefits, while successful cities can attract legendary figures, including philosophers such as Socrates and Aristotle. Ignoring divine expectations, however, can have consequences, with the gods capable of disrupting even a thriving settlement through their wrath.

The game also aims to give players more direct control over how their cities operate. One of the changes highlighted in the trailer is the ability to guide walking units that patrol and assist the settlement, addressing one of the more restrictive elements traditionally associated with the genre. Building tools from Triskell Interactive’s Pharaoh: A New Era also return, allowing players to design settlements at a detailed level, from major temples and structures to the paths residents use to move around the city.

Beyond economic and urban management, Theos: Cities of Myth introduces military and expansion systems. Players can build armies to defend their settlements against neighboring rivals or launch real-time attacks to conquer them. Successful cities can also develop into major trading powers, accumulating resources and expanding their economic reach. Appeasing a god and maintaining a well-designed settlement can additionally attract legendary heroes who provide further advantages.

The game will feature both a series of adventures and a sandbox mode, offering dozens of hours of gameplay within its interpretation of Ancient Greece. Its systems are supported by an intuitive interface, dynamic lighting, and the building tools carried over from Pharaoh: A New Era, with the developers aiming to make the genre accessible to newcomers while retaining its strategic depth for experienced players.

Theos: Cities of Myth is scheduled to launch later in 2026 on PC. An official Steam page for the game is now live, where players can add the game to their wishlist. Additional details about the game will be revealed in the coming weeks, leading to its release.
