Ironhide Game Studio has revealed a new mode for Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis called the Classic Mode that recreates the gameplay of the original Kingdom Rush as the studio celebrates the franchise’s 15th anniversary. The developer also confirmed a series of gameplay changes inspired by community feedback ahead of the game’s scheduled launch on September 24, 2026.
The newly announced Classic Mode is designed as a tribute to the tower defense series’ 2011 debut, allowing players to experience the entirety of Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis using the mechanics that defined the original game.
Rather than relying on the sequel’s expanded systems, Classic Mode limits players to a single hero alongside the four original tower families: Barracks, Archer, Mage, and Artillery. The mode also restores the iconic Rain of Fire and Reinforcements abilities, while bringing back familiar upgrade paths and fan-favorite towers such as the Rangers Hideout, Holy Order, Arcane Wizard, Tesla x104, and Big Bertha.
According to Ironhide, the mode is intended both as a nostalgic experience for longtime fans and as a way for new players to discover the strategic foundations that helped establish the series more than a decade ago.
The announcement comes as Kingdom Rush marks its 15th anniversary. Originally released during the Adobe Flash era, the first game was developed by three friends in Uruguay before growing into one of the most recognizable names in the tower defense genre. Over the years, the franchise has expanded across multiple sequels and platforms while building a dedicated global community.
Alongside the new gameplay mode, Ironhide says it is making several adjustments to Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis in response to player feedback gathered through social media, community discussions, videos, and the game’s demo. While the studio has not yet detailed every change, it confirmed that updates to the game’s global upgrade system, user interface, and other mechanics are planned before launch.
The developer says community feedback has remained an important part of the series throughout its history and continues to influence the direction of the upcoming sequel. More information on the redesigned UI, progression systems, and additional gameplay improvements will be shared in the coming weeks.
To commemorate the franchise’s milestone anniversary, Ironhide is also planning several community events, including a fan art competition, community story giveaway, Kingdom Rush Battles anniversary content, and special activities hosted through the studio’s official Discord server.
Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2026, on PC via Steam. Players interested in jumping into the game on its launch date can head over to its official Steam page and add it to their wishlist right now.
