Attack on Titan 3 Set for Winter Release, With MAPPA Producing the Opening Animation

Attack on Titan 3

KOEI TECMO America and developer Omega Force have confirmed Attack on Titan 3 is launching worldwide this winter on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, backed by a new trailer and a fresh batch of gameplay details.

The game marks the finale of Omega Force’s long-running Attack on Titan action series, carrying the story from the Survey Corps’ earliest days through to its conclusion. Players step into the role of a Scout Regiment member, fighting alongside the series’ core cast to relive the events that defined the story. Squad-building plays a bigger role this time around too, as each Scout brings their own distinct skill set, and players can mix fan-favorite characters to build a team suited to whatever fight they’re walking into.

Fans of the series will be happy to know that MAPPA, the studio behind Attack on Titan: The Final Season, is producing the game’s opening animation. Director Arifumi Imai, an action animator and storyboard artist with deep roots in the franchise, is back at the helm. KOEI TECMO hasn’t shared much beyond that yet, but more reveals are expected as the winter release approaches.

Coming to the gameplay, the omnidirectional mobility gear that defined the series’ aerial combat is back, letting players fly the vertical, twisting combat maneuvers that separate this series from typical action titles. Titans themselves have been reworked to be more aggressive, with new attack patterns and behaviors designed to keep fights tense rather than routine. For players jumping in fresh, a new Casual Mode is being added to soften the learning curve without stripping out what makes combat distinct.

The game also introduces Exterior Scouting Missions, sending players outside the walls to build supply bases, take down Titans in the open field, and expand humanity’s territory. These missions lean into resource management as ODM gear fuel, and blades are finite, and squad morale has to be actively maintained. Every expedition comes down to a risk calculation: push deeper into Titan territory for bigger gains or pull back before things go wrong.

Attack on Titan 3 is currently in development, targeting a winter release across PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game will ship with Japanese voice acting, alongside text support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
